Episode 396

Hello and welcome to Unshakable with Human Design. I’m your host, Nicole Laino and. And we’re coming to you with another episode in our type series. I’m so excited to be doing this. We started doing the type series because, like I’ve said before, we haven’t done one and we’ve never really done a deep dive intentionally into all of the types. While it’s the most talked about piece of human design, probably you see the most things about generators and manifesting generators and, you know, all of the types. I think people get bored with it and they move on to something else before they’ve really mastered it. 

So I kind of welcomed the opportunity to bring everybody back to this really fundamental piece because you might intellectually understand that and you might even be listening to this or you might have seen that I’m doing a type series and like, I already know about type. I wish you would do something more exciting like talk about the arrows or something. I don’t understand those yet. And the truth is that if you don’t understand your type, then those other things are probably not really sinking in either. And you’re giving your mind something cool to chomp on, but it’s not really having an impact on your life the way that it’s meant to. Because I see most people, you know, they’ll tell me, like, oh, yeah, I’m working with my human design for a couple of years now. I’m living by it. 

And then I see how they’re living and talk to them for a bit and I’m like, you’re really not following it though. And that’s why you’re not seeing the results that you’re looking for is because you have intellectual knowing, but you are an embodying. Okay, so this series is really just designed to, like, let’s bring us back to this fundamental piece of design and explore it again. Let’s kind of come into it with beginner’s mind and come in here and hopefully, you know, I offer something a little bit different. Like I said, we’ve never done one of these before, so hopefully this is different than other things you’ve heard about being a manifesting generator or any of the Other types that I’m giving you a different perspective. 

That’s a lot of times the feedback we get is that when I talk about something that other people have heard, they hear it differently. So that’s my hope, is that you hear this differently and this hits you and it gives you something to actually go out and implement. Okay. We’ll also link all of it up in the show notes for you. Okay, so without further ado, let’s talk about today’s type. We’re going to dive into generators. Okay. We did manifestors, we did manifesting generators. If you didn’t listen to those, please go listen to them. It’s really helpful to hear what the other types are because it gives you a contrast to what you are.

So really helpful to understand all five types and you can see where you fit into the grander scheme of things. So generators are most popular type. They have a sacral defined. Let’s do the technicality. So you know what makes a generator? A generator is a generator because they have a sacral defined. But unlike our manifesting generators, they have no motor to the throat. Now, they might have a defined throat or an undefined throat that is up for grabs, but there won’t be a motor directly or indirectly connecting the throat center to it. So the emotional center, the solar plexus, the sacral, the ego or the root, those might be defined, but the channel doesn’t connect to the throat indirectly or directly. It’s not in the same, you know, consistent circuit with them. 

So what this does is this might mean that they are more comfortable. The response is going to be really important for them because there isn’t that manifesting energy. That doesn’t mean that they can’t manifest. In fact, they have a Huge part in the manifestation process. They are the builders. They are the creators. They’re the ones who do it all. So are the manifesting generators. You know, they’re cousins, but generators have this warm, enveloping aura. They’re like these warm, bubbly, open, like big teddy bears. Their energy pulls you in like a hug. There’s usually a great warm and fuzzy vibe to generators. Now, it doesn’t mean that all generators are warm and fuzzy. It doesn’t mean that everybody likes them. However, they tend to be very likable. People tend to be drawn to them just because they make people feel good. 

When generators are in their element, when they are turned on, when they’re lit up and happy, then they tend to make other people feel that too. It’s a good time. When you’re at a party and there’s generators who are having fun, it tends to draw people in. Here’s the funny thing about generators. A lot of generators that I work with, they make it a lot harder on themselves because. And I think this is one of the things that’s cool about design, is that it can show you what your gifts are, and it can show you that they are gifts because so many of us are taking them for granted. I’ve had a lot of people come to me, and I did this too. 

You know, when you find out you’re a generator or a manifesting generator, and they lump you into that category, and they said that 70% of the world are these two. So you suddenly feel way less special than anybody else because you’re like, oh, I’m kind of like everybody else. Okay. The world is built for us. The system is kind of built in a lot of ways for us. We could do a lot, and certainly in America, doing a lot is prized and valued. But what we have to do is we do have to focus on what our actual gifts are. And the generators, after, they feel disappointed that’s what they are, which happens a lot. I’ saying you did, but I do. I was like, oh, I wanted to be like a projector and be a guide and be told to nap all day. 

And that was my magic. But no, apparently I have to work really hard for what I do. But that is who I am. And so we have to accept these things. And manifesting generators and generators are different. Not 70% of the world. The 70% of the world is sacral, but we each have our own little camps. 35% ish are generators. So there you go. 37% or something like that. Slightly more generators Than there are manifesting generators. But they can really discount generators after the disappointment fades, then they can just really discount that their gift is a gift, which is being warm, bubbly, and having energy that pulls you in, like a hug. It doesn’t seem like much of a gift that people like you and that when you are excited, other people get excited too, and people are naturally drawn to them. 

When they’re lit up again, people be like, oh, okay, I thought there’d be something more like a process here. The other thing, generators love a process. They love a good process. Give a generator some steps. You’ll notice that a lot of the programs that are built, if you’ve bought coaching programs from people or courses that have really methodical, step by step, just do these things, follow it to a t, get it done, and you’ll get the result. Like that kind of thing. And it involves a lot of work. A generator usually made that. Not a manifesting generator, a generator. A manifesting generator will tell you can actually do this a million different ways, which can screw generators up because they really need the steps and they can get really disoriented when they don’t have them. So I’m always bringing my generators back. 

Here’s what I want you to focus on. Here’s where I think you need to focus. Just keep your eye on the prize. So they love a good process, and they would really love to be told something other than, you know, just do what you love. Because they think they’re doing that already, and they don’t trust that can really be all, because it feels too simple. So kind of a way that I look at this, there are a few influencers who I know who are generators. And I think this is a perfect example of not making it more complicated than it has to be. Their whole brand is just sort of built around them having fun, them sharing their lives, them being warm and fuzzy, and people wanting to be around them. 

So they have events and they do these things where people just get to be near them, and that’s where they make their money. And I know that doesn’t sound necessarily fulfilling for every single person, but I want to point it out, because it can be that simple if you allow it to be. And you have to find the thing that lights you up. You might not want to be around people all the time, all that often. But I will say generators need people. Generators need people probably, you know, more than I want to say, more than any of the other types. When generators live in a place where they’re by themselves or they’re not really interacting much with people, then there’s no response. 

And I’ll find a lot of times generators that are sitting around waiting for something to initiate on and they think that they’re waiting for response, but there’s nothing to respond to. They’re not doing anything. And while yes, you can respond to things by like scrolling on your phone, it’s not really what I recommend. I recommend life. This is what makes generators. They’re usually incredible team players. They’re highly collaborative people. So I always find that generators, you know, I think that there’s always a challenge with a type. There’s always a sweet spot of finding ways to work with your energy and not falling in the traps. Right. So the biggest problem with generators is they’re meant to be present. They’re meant to be in the moment people. So if there’s too much to respond to, they can really be easily distracted. 

And that’s usually coming from. Because they’re not exactly where they’re meant to be. They’re not really turned on by the place or sacral is just bouncing from one thing to the next. So they have to learn how to be present with where their energy really wants to go or noticing or am I just uncomfortable? Am I just. They may be looking for something to respond to so much like being on their phone all the time or doing a couple of things at once or you know, have the TV on while they’re doing something else, you know, and that distraction, it’s like it keeps them excited and kind of keeps them. Cause they’re bouncing from one thing to the next, but it makes them really unfocused. And they have a tremendous ability to focus when the work lights them up. 

So it really has to be like to notice what am I doing that I love versus just what’s around me. And that’s kind of a weird needle to thread a balance that we need to create. So a lot of times what I find what screws generators up and where we try to guide them away from is like the manifesting generators. They haven’t really activated their energy. So they’re initiating. They’re sitting home at a desk wondering what they’re going to do next. And that’s not their strategy. Their strategy is to respond. So when it doesn’t work and they either initiate on something and fizzle out real quickly, what am I going to post? So content by design, our content program DM me content if you want to get that. 

We go into all of this, it’s really about the alignment and content, not necessarily everything that you’re saying, but getting into an energetic groove and flow with your content. A lot of times generators are not sharing what they care about. They’re trying to get it right. The minute you try to get it right, you get nothing. And you’re sitting on your impulses in the moment. People, generators have to say, like, I got a response to this, I’m going to go do it. I got a response to it. Now I’m going to ride that energetic wave toward that thing. So when they’re trying to initiate and they’re trying to think up the perfect post or the perfect thing and it doesn’t work, they feel like a failure. And then they get disoriented and then they start wondering. 

And again, when they’re in that place, they’re in all of their conditioning, they’re in their mind, they’re in their undefined ego, making them feel like they’re not enough. All of that conditioning starts to take over. Now they’re paying attention to that, and they’re not paying attention to their sacral. Sacral is the thing that will get them out of it. So I always say to my generators, I’m like, you know, you gotta trust. If one client, she keeps coming back to this one topic, it’s kind of all she can talk about. She just keeps getting brought back there, and she just keeps saying no to actually taking action on it. And I see her light up and I see her get excited when she talks about it. 

And it’s a thought and a belief that she has about whether she should really be talking about this or not that is stopping her from doing it, not because she doesn’t want to. This is why generators are stuck. You’re thinking it through rather than following your strategy. You don’t question response, you go with it. And most are questioning it. They’re thinking about something and they’re trying to initiate on something, and they’re ignoring what’s actually in front of them to respond to. This is why generators, if you’re in the future and you’re worrying about where things are going, or you’re worrying about things that happened in the past and whether they’re going to happen again and all of that, you’re not in the moment. They’re distracting you from what’s here. They’re distracting you from having a good time. You’re not magnetic in that place. 

They’re distracting you from what your sacral is saying yes to your motor’s turning on and you’re ignoring it in favor of worrying or thinking through or trying to strategize this whole big plan. Generators. We never know what step 10 will be. We only know what’s in front of us. And if we want to take the step or if we don’t want to take the step, that’s all you can answer. And if you start to master that, taking the one step. When they say action leads to clarity, that’s a generator thing. I’m not saying that it doesn’t have validity for the other types, but it’s the most valid for generators. Because if you don’t take action, you’re just wondering and you’re thinking into the future, will that be the thing for me? I don’t know. Let me play this out. And you miss the moment. 

And now you wonder why you feel like you’re not getting anything to respond to. You are. You’re just not paying attention to it. You’re not honoring it. You’re not honoring the response. So you’re not getting the benefit of human design. And then you go read another book or you pick up another, like, Instagram carousel and scroll through it and save it to a collection or something for later. That’s all a distraction right now. What are you excited about? What do you want to say? I did that this morning. I was like. I want to say that. I was like, oh, I don’t know if I should. Kind of saucy. And I’m going to do it. I had to recognize. I’m like, this is a real sacral. Yes. So I need to pay attention to that because that’s what I’m being given. 

And this is where we have to do those things. Just because it’s in alignment for us doesn’t mean we’ll get the result that we want. But we will get the lesson or the result that we need. Okay.
