Episode 468
What if the reason wealth, love, or opportunities aren’t sticking in your life has more to do with your space than your strategy?
In this episode, Nicole sits down with Feng Shui expert Kristina Hollinger to uncover how your environment may be shaping your results in ways you’ve never considered.
Kristina shares a fresh, approachable perspective on feng shui—one that goes far beyond aesthetics. It’s not about perfection—it’s about alignment.
They also connect the dots between your personal energy, visualization practices, and the physical space you move through every day. Also, they explore how manifestation becomes more powerful when you’re not just working internally, but also creating an environment that supports what you’re calling in.
If you’ve been doing the inner work but still feel like something isn’t clicking, this episode offers a new perspective—and practical ways to start shifting things in your favor without overcomplicating the process.

Episode 468:
Nicole Laino
Hello, and welcome to Unshakable with Human Design. I’m your host, Nicole. Nicole Laino. And it’s just me and you right now, but I actually have an interview for you that I’m very excited to bring you. I interviewed Kristina Hollinger. She is a Feng Shui expert. She’s been featured on HGTV, and she brings this beautiful blend of, like, ancient manifesting wisdom of feng shui through simple and modern methods by helping you balance your outer and your inner environment.
Nicole Laino
So this show, if you listen to this show, what you’re probably interested in is alternative ways of bringing in money, of creating the life that you want to have and bringing balance to your life. You recognize that it isn’t all hustle. It isn’t all action, although that’s important. There is an energetic element to everything. So on the show, we explore so much of, like, the energy of ourselves and the energy of the people that we are around. But in this episode, feng shui is the study of the energy of space, of the spaces we live in, of the spaces we occupy. And in this episode, what Kristina breaks down because her specialty is manifesting with feng shui.
Nicole Laino
And what she breaks down in this is how you can attract wealth, how you can start to attract money, hold money, how your home might actually be a key to maybe why money doesn’t stay around, to why love doesn’t stay or why it does. And she gives us some really amazing tips and tricks and things that you can implement in your own home. But she also gives us the background on all of that, of how this all came to be and how we look at our homes and the space and the energy flow within it and learn to work with it more effectively. So without further ado, I’m going to kick it on over to the episode, but I hope that you enjoy this interview. I enjoyed it so much for Kristina is a dear friend and, yeah, enjoy the episode.
Nicole Laino
Kristina, I am so excited to have you here. This is a long time coming.
Kristina Hollinger
It is. Hi, Nicole.
Nicole Laino
Hi. Welcome to the show.
Kristina Hollinger
Thank you.
Nicole Laino
So, first of all, tell everybody a little bit about yourself and what you do, because I am obsessed. But I want everybody to know, like, we have some friends in common. We have Some clients in common. And so I kept hearing about you. I think they were telling you about me. We had these kind of, like, kind of tertiary sort of relationship. And I love feng shui, but almost so much that I’m kind of dangerous with it. And then I started following you. And I love how you bring feng shui into a very. Like, it doesn’t feel rigid. And I think maybe how I approach human design, maybe that’s why people. We attract the same type of people, that it’s not this rigid sort of thing.
Nicole Laino
It’s like this new way of thinking about life and about the way that we connect with energy and the energy of space. So tell everybody a little bit about how’d you find feng shui. How’d you end up doing this stuff?
Kristina Hollinger
Well, first of all, because I’m on your podcast. Like, the first thing I wanted to say was, like, hi, everyone. I’m a projector in human design. I didn’t learn that until recently, like, in the last couple of years. And I think that is actually very relevant to why I gravitated towards feng shui in the first place, is just as a projector, you just are very sensitive to energy of your environment and the energy of other people. But ultimately, I do practice feng shui. It’s been over a decade now, or, yeah, it’s been like 12 years since I’ve been certified. But ultimately, I was drawn to it because I really did find it in a place in my life when everything on the outside looked picture perfect. It should have been perfect. I was newly married.
Kristina Hollinger
You know, I had a new teaching job, and I looked and felt my best. Well, you know, felt my best ish. But, like, on the inside, I was like, well, there’s something more. And I did decide to start redecorating my home. And I grew up in a holistic household. And I stumbled upon this book about feng shui. And ultimately, what really drew me in is that this tool called the Bag web app. And I just want your listeners to know, like, we are going to dive into it a little bit because it’s so fascinating. There are nine areas of your life. There are different areas of your home represent different areas of your life.
Kristina Hollinger
And so once I started to realize, like, oh, I can amplify wealth and money, when I had been struggling to make ends meet, having to pick up an extra job every summer, like, I wasn’t a teacher that had a summer off. Like, I had to work extra jobs to, like, pay the bills. And it was like, once I started to activate the wealth area. Things started to unlock and so much started unlocked that I’m a teacher, which I don’t think a lot of people know that, but I’ve been teaching in public education for 18 years. And once I learned this manifesting method, I wanted to teach others, which is why I got certified and learned. Literally, it’s like the rest is history. So I want a life that looks good on the outside and feels good on the inside too.
Kristina Hollinger
And that’s truly my mission is to help others do the same.
Nicole Laino
Right. It’s like I want the physical trappings and I want it all to look good because I want it to be good, but I also want it to feel fulfilling and I want it to feel like I’m in the right place and that I’m moving through this life the way that I’m meant to. I completely resonate with that. So tell me, first of all, do you do the compass method or are you. What’s your method of Feng shui?
Kristina Hollinger
Thanks for asking that. So for listeners, it’s really important just to know. Like, this is why I became a Feng Shui practitioner and I have a free mini course because I noticed when I first started you’re going to get a lot of information because the compass method is about the cardinal directions and it’s a little bit complicated. And that is not my training. In fact, I am a BTB Feng Shui practitioner. And so for listeners and viewers, the BTB school Feng Shui is something that was brought to the United states in the 1980s by Professor Lynn Young. And it’s somewhat simplified because ultimately that tool, the Bagua map that I was telling you about, where you can locate your wealth area, your relationship area, your career area, simply you just have to start at the front door of your house.
Kristina Hollinger
It doesn’t matter if you’re north, south, east or west, right? So the BTV school Feng shui is what I study, it’s what I teach. So if you follow along, you get the free guide. You just follow along with me, I will make like you are aligned with that particular school.
Nicole Laino
I’m laughing because do you know how many times I’ve stood outside my front door getting like a compass direction and then drawing lines on graph paper, and I’ve done the whole thing and making like a map out of cardboard. And then I gave up because it’s like I’m so interested in this, but I don’t. And I have an L shaped home. And all I kept finding were problems that made me feel bad about My life and home. And I was like, I need to back away from this. I am so fascinated by it, which is why I’m happy you’re here, because I know that there’s so much to this. But. So tell us about the bagua. So the bagua map. So if someone is brand new to feng shui, you said that there are nine spaces, nine realms, right.
Nicole Laino
Of the map that you overlay over, like the floor plan of your house, basically. Right. And so what do they do with that?
Kristina Hollinger
So if I’m a visual person. So like the bagua map kind of looks like a tic tac toe grid. Right. And so ultimately, the way I like to describe it is like when you walk into your front door, the far back left area of your home is the wealth area. And then the far back right area of your home is the relationship area. And I like to point those out because those are the command positions, right? And then when you walk into your front door at the, like, very front of your home, and if your front door is front and center, you’re walking into the career area of your home. But it might be, if your front door is towards the left in front, you’re walking into wisdom and knowledge, which a lot of people overlook that space.
Kristina Hollinger
And this is what I love about feng shui. It’s like all the areas of life are important. Like when people come to me looking for support with their relationship or finding their soulmate partner, we don’t just go to the relationship area, that wisdom and knowledge area. And the first front left area of your home is so impactful and significant because you have to know yourself in order to articulate what you want to someone else. So, like, when you spend time in this space, it’s so powerful. So front left is going to be wisdom and knowledge, front center is going to be career. And then the front right is helpful. People travel. That’s like the gist. And obviously there’s nine areas. But when you know this, you can literally like, simply clean with intention to, like address.
Kristina Hollinger
And if you’re struggling in any area of life, you can just go to that area of your home to truly address what’s troubling you. So I love that.
Nicole Laino
So let’s talk a little bit about just for the people who are new to this. Feng shui is basically it’s the energy of your home, right? The energetic flow.
Kristina Hollinger
Can you talk a little bit about that or what?
Nicole Laino
What’s good for people to know about that when they’re thinking about it? Because even something like that there are simple signals there. So something that I do because I feel in control of it. I wash my front door because my front door takes. Tends to get very dirty. We don’t use it very often. We come through the back a lot. So I remember learning about feng shui, and that was something. It was like, this is not inviting. You’re not inviting the energy in. So can you tell everybody a little bit about what? Like that your home has energy. Even, I think is something that might.
Kristina Hollinger
Be new to people, right? So, like, at a foundational level, like, everything is energy is essentially the concept. So, like, even the inanimate objects that are in your home or carrying energy, the books on your tableside are vibrating a different energy. I was. I just read. Have you ever read the book Ask and it is Given by Abraham Hicks? You’ve heard this. So Dr. Wayne Dyer wrote the foreword to that book. I recently just had his daughter Sage on my podcast. And this is true story. So, like in the book in the forward, Dr. Wayne Dyer says, even if you feel resistance to practicing anything in this book, asking is and it is given. Just simply carry the book around with you. And. And the energy of the words will vibrate through your life.
Kristina Hollinger
And literally, within seven days of just carrying the book around with me, I booked an impromptu trip to New York City to interview Sage Dyer. It was like the most divine thing. So all of this to say, like, Dr. Wayne Dyer didn’t teach feng shui, but it’s like this concept of just like, yes, our environment is impacting us, and it does make a difference. So when you shift the energy with your intention of what it is you want to call in, it is so magnetic. It’s so powerful. So did I fully answer your question, or was there more to it? I. I’m like. I kind of went on a little story of, like, I think I answered it completely.
Nicole Laino
I think you did. I mean, similarly to, like, the human design chart, it’s like we are all energy, but the different centers represent different themes of energy that we have. So the head center is going to be energetic inspiration. The G center is going to be the center of self. That’s theme that’s carrying it. So I’m guessing the areas in the Bagua map are themes of energy based on the space.
Kristina Hollinger
Yeah. And. Well, here’s what. I love what you just said, because I’m like, I have to say, your space is so important, and we work with the environmental energy in feng shui, but there’s actually three types of Energy that we work with, right? We work with the environmental energy, which most people are familiar with. And that’s what we’re talking about right now. We work with the universal energy. So like the moon phases, mercury retrogrades, we know that impacts us on a personal level and as a collective. And then the third type of energy we work with in feng shui is your personal energy.
Kristina Hollinger
And so for you to bring up the human design piece, I love that so much because professor who, like I said, brought the BTV School Feng Shui to the United States in the 1980s, professor would always say, you can move your furniture around, but unless you balance your personal energy, you will not be as successful manifesting with feng shui. So that’s why I always include different ways for, like, different visualizations and different techniques for people to balance their personal energy. And I just want to emphasize a lot of the adjustments we do, people are surprised to know that they’re invisible.
Kristina Hollinger
So, so many times, like if you go, for example, to your wealth area, which is the far back left area of your home, you can write intentions for what it is that you’re calling in and place it behind a photograph or place it behind a picture so that the energy of your intentions for your wealth, for your prosperity is vibrating in the wealth area. And again, it’s like on a personal level, you are being intentional and you are, you know, setting that internally. And then you’re also doing this invisible adjustment in your environment. And that’s kind of how it all fits together.
Nicole Laino
It’s like a holistic approach to energetic work. You’re not just working with your personal energy. You’re not just working with the physical space. You’re treating them all as kind of one process. It just has different facets to it.
Kristina Hollinger
Yeah, I love that way of putting it because for me, whenever I was stewing over a problem in my mind and I was getting so frustrated by something, it felt really therapeutic to be able to just be like, well, I’m going to locate, like, I’m stressed about money, so let me go to the family area. Because the family area is all about having stability and finances and always having enough. So, like, if I go to the family area and the wealth area, I can, like, tackle these stressors head on in a physical way, which I love, because I think sometimes when you hear about manifesting, it can be frustrating if it’s just all internal work. Right.
Kristina Hollinger
So I do like the aspect of the holistic piece of, like, you can do the inner work but you also get to, like, do the outer and see the shit.
Nicole Laino
No, I. I think it’s super valid, too, because I think I say to people all the time, you know, when you’re carrying something, I do visualizations with clients. Like, there’s all these different tools that we use. It isn’t just human sign. And a lot of times I’m like, well, if there’s worry, it’s important that you process it and then that there’s someplace that you have to put it, because walking around with it isn’t going to be helpful. So things like working with your space and stuff gives you a way of feeling like you are addressing it, that the only way you address things isn’t just by carrying it. You know, that there are other tools that we can use.
Kristina Hollinger
So, Nicole, you brought up visualization, so I really want to just emphasize something that, you know, after doing this for 10 years and then going on my own spiritual journey, about six or seven years ago, I really discovered Gabby Bernstein’s teaching. Her book Super Attractor, like, changed my life. I became a certified Gabby Bernstein spirit junkie. And I infuse a lot of her spiritual practices in my work because it’s just, like, part of who I am now. And one of the things that she always has said is that visualization is one of the most powerful manifesting tools, like, to actually visualize it, feel it. And later, after I read that in one of her books and heard it on her podcast and heard it in her meditation, I came across a text where professor literally said the same thing.
Kristina Hollinger
And professor said that visualization and balancing that personal energy with intention is one of the most powerful ways to manifest. So, for example, how this works in Feng shui, he would say, even if you’re not in the wealth area of your home, but you visualize a clear per, let’s say purple light, because purple represents wealth and abundance, and it activates the wealth area. If you just envision this purple light, like, clearing the energy of your wealth area with your intention, that’s just as powerful as actually walking through your space and, like, with a chime and clearing that space and activating it. So visualization is a huge part of manifesting with feng shui. It’s a big part of, like, other teachings like Gabby Bernstein’s. And so, again, that’s just why I like to incorporate those visualizations.
Kristina Hollinger
And it’s, like, amazing to hear you do the same for your community.
Nicole Laino
I visualize every day, whether I feel like it or not, because I’m either putting Good thoughts out into the universe or. So this is my intentional shot that I have that wherever my mind goes, I might lose myself at some point during the day. But I know at the start of every single day and at the end of every single day, before I go to bed, I visualize something of my choosing and it’s the easiest thing. Like, I’ll. I’ll notice. I’ll have clients that won’t do it. And I’m like, why is it that you can’t find seven minutes in your day if it might change? It costs you absolutely nothing but seven minutes. What if it changes everything? Wouldn’t you feel silly if for seven minutes a day? But you would. Then you’ll go and run around and chase all of these other things.
Nicole Laino
I always think it’s very interesting when people resist simple things. And I want to take a moment. We’ve talked a lot about, like, you’ve mentioned manifesting several times and Feng shui. And I don’t know if everybody always thinks about those two things linked together, but I want to ask, what is it that you wish everybody knew? That’s listening if they didn’t know it already? If you’re like, this is the one thing that I wish everybody knew about manifesting with Feng Shui or about what you teach?
Kristina Hollinger
Well, it’s so interesting because I have my own podcast, over a hundred episodes, and it has evolved over the years. And just last year, I changed the name of it to Manifesting with Feng Shui. And I had resisted that term a really long time simply just because I just felt like it was very, like a buzzword, maybe overused, but I really wanted people to understand. Like, my tagline too is like, I help people design the life they deserve. So I think a lot of people just have like, this conception that feng shui is a way to make your home look good and feel good and have good energy, but it’s actually a way to intentionally design your life. And that is so powerful.
Kristina Hollinger
So when people come to me for like a one one consultation, like, we navigate, like, what are the three areas of your life where you’re struggling with the most? And like, now let’s walk through your entire home you had brought out the front door. We always start our one one consultation at the front door because it’s the most important area to begin your feng shui journey. It’s where all of the money, new opportunities, and helpful people energetically, metaphorically enter through your life. It’s called the Mouth of Qi. And so, I mean if you’re struggling in any area of life, you can literally shift your space and your life will change. And I think that’s just the biggest thing.
Kristina Hollinger
It’s like, this is not, it’s like it’s a practice because it’s like, it’s not like you brush your teeth one day and then like you wait till you have a toothache to brush it again. It’s like it could be very simple things, but if you do a little bit every single day and you live a feng shui lifestyle, it literally changes your life.
Nicole Laino
What you’re saying is sort of like how I look at like the nervous system work that I do with clients. And I use human design as the map and then I use my other tools to help you clear those shadows and shift into your gifts. The gifts aren’t g given their potential, most of us spend more time in the shadow than we do in the gift. Until we learn what those two things are and what’s keeping us from being in the gift. And if it were only as simple as being like, oh, I’m not going to do that anymore, most of us would stop. But most people have some sort of big T, small T trauma, something that is keeping them from living there. So it’s the same thing. It’s like there is like an energetic hygiene to.
Nicole Laino
It isn’t about like you do breath work one day. It’s about like I do breath work every morning. I check in with myself and I intuitively ask, what am I needing right now? What doesn’t feel off? What is my body telling me? What is my energy telling me? I talk to my guides. I have like a whole thing that I do in the morning and it doesn’t take me all that long, but it’s an intentional time. And I think that you’re saying the same thing with your space. It’s like it isn’t something you do once. And then you’re like, okay, we’re good now. Because I’m guessing life happens, things happen and then there are adjustments and things that need to be made and we continue to live. We bring new things home with us. We bring new things into it.
Nicole Laino
But I have selfish questions. Do you count the garage?
Kristina Hollinger
It’s a great question. Yes. If your garage is attached, you count it. And I did want to mention, like you had mentioned the L shaped house. And like, so for listeners and for viewers, like if you have an L shaped house, like imagine putting an L shape on that tic tac toe grid. You’re going to Notice missing pieces. Right. There’s going to be areas of your home that are missing. So not to fear, because in feng shui, there’s always a cure. And I actually like, I have like a podcast episode about that and we talk about those things. Like I have a 12 month manifesting journey program that you can like ask me questions every month. But the point is, like, in feng shui there’s always a cure. So I just don’t want you to be worried about that.
Kristina Hollinger
But I understand, like, when those questions pop up.
Nicole Laino
Oh yeah, my wealth corner is in my yard.
Kristina Hollinger
Yeah.
Nicole Laino
Yeah.
Kristina Hollinger
Can I give you just a cure right now for that?
Nicole Laino
You sure can.
Kristina Hollinger
Yeah, I don’t want to like. Okay, so. But the thing is, I’m a really visual person, so I hope I can describe this well for you.
Nicole Laino
Sure.
Kristina Hollinger
So we lay Nicole’s floor plan down and it’s like a backwards L, right? Because you’re missing that backlight left corner right there. No house there.
Nicole Laino
Yeah, that goes across and then back to the right and then there’s a big chunk.
Kristina Hollinger
So at the top of that tic tac toe square. So at the far back right area of your home is the relationship area. Right. So you just kind of like trace this line and you would bury a crystal in the ground where the wealth corner would be if there was a house there.
Nicole Laino
Okay.
Kristina Hollinger
Ultimately, so like a pointed quartz crystal, like buried in the ground. You could put a potted plant there and put the crystal there as well. You could just even maybe put like a wind chime to signify, I don’t know, like, especially like if you had to like mow the lawn and stuff like that. I know it could be a little bit tricky, but like, if it were me, if it were my home, I would definitely try to do something with that. And then during one one custom consultations, there’s an energetic adjustment to energetically close those missing pieces for all those areas. Because you might potentially be missing fame and reputation, which is the far back center area. And that area impacts your career. It’s your visibility, it’s how people perceive you from the outside world.
Kristina Hollinger
And it’s also going to like help you with like banks for loans and things like that and investors and so. And by the way, everybody, fame and reputation is really important this year because it’s the only area activated by the fire element. And since we’re in the year, the fire horse is just like really significant. So. Okay, I digress. I could go on. But did that make sense what I said about the Missing piece.
Nicole Laino
It did make sense. I have crystals at home that I will bury.
Kristina Hollinger
Like, beautiful.
Nicole Laino
When I get there, just point it up. I was not fishing for that, but I’ll take it, and I’m grateful for it. But what I think is so fascinating about this is, to me, it just brings me back to, I think what the. Just a fundamental principle that changed my life, which is that everything is connected, is that energy is everything. And yes, we live in this material world that we are interfacing with, but it’s our energy that is connecting with all of it. And I love the whole idea of not just how space feels, but that it’s functioning, that the energy is a function of your home.
Kristina Hollinger
Yeah. And I really actually wanted to comment on something you were just saying earlier about, like, how important it is to, like. You talked about your, like, morning ritual and getting connected with yourself, your intuition, and then also connecting with your environment. And I really feel like this connects with human design. I know you’re very aware that there’s a shift happening in 2027, and I just feel like. I just notice it more. So it’s like now we have AI and all of these things. I feel like we’re in an era where we really need to listen to ourselves and trust ourselves and be connected to ourselves so much more than ever. I just feel like a lot of the practices that I teach, we do a red envelope exchange to honor the lineage of that has been passed down to me.
Kristina Hollinger
So much of the teachings that I have put into, like, my courses, you know, you’ve got your kajabi course, and it’s all nice and digital, but those programs that I’ve developed have come from, like, stacks of handwritten journals that I just took notes from my teacher, who passed down the teachings from Professor Lynn Yun. And it’s just like, honoring some of this ancient wisdom and, like, then also, like, practicing it so that you can be, like, really present and attuned to like yourself, your desires, your environment, and just be connected to, like. I just think it’s just more important than ever in this day and age. I don’t know how you feel about it or if you have any connections with human design, but I just felt called and share that.
Nicole Laino
Oh, I’m all over that. So in 2027, you know, and we can talk a little bit about the fire horse energy that we’re. I’m already feeling that for sure. It’s just. It’s very weird right now because we’re currently in Mercury retrograde, which I feel like this is a very, like it’s Pisces, it’s Mercury retrograde. But we’re also in the Fire horse where it’s sort of like, it’s like the horse is chained a little bit and it’s not happy about it and it’s like it wants to go and a lot of energy is building up. It feels a little bit like a pressure cooker to me. That’s my own personal experience with it.
Nicole Laino
But less than a year we are going to go from a world energetically that the background frequency so to speak has been supporting structures and very man made stuff, very like, you know, linear. And we’re about to say goodbye to that as like the law of the land energetically. And so I do think that these practices, I don’t think they’re gonna be optional and I think that we, that’s why we’re seeing so many people turn to alternative methods and some of these things that 10 years ago people thought you were crazy for even entertaining the ideas of. You know, you mentioned Esther Hicks. Like I think that was like. And you didn’t really talk about that unless you were around certain people that you listened to Esther Hicks because that was pretty out there.
Nicole Laino
But I do think that this is gonna be, this is where we’re going. We’re not getting less energetic and more material. We’re getting, we’re getting more energetic and the material follows.
Kristina Hollinger
I totally agree. Yeah. And psychic and the term manifesting like it, you know, they don’t teach that in schools. And you know, I said I’ve been teaching in public education for 18 years or working in education. But you know what, there’s definitely so much science to back up that like even just like writing down your goals or your intentions, whatever you want to call them, makes them so much more likely to happen. And so you know, teaching even children how to set their intentions and you know, let them know how powerful they are is just so important.
Nicole Laino
Yeah. You know, it gives like the list to Santa feel even more interesting. Right. But what is it that you do as an entrepreneur? What are the things that you make a priority? Because this, our listener race is mostly entrepreneurs, if not completely. We get a lot of human sign people, but it’s definitely people that are usually running a business or thinking about running a business. And you’ve been doing this for a long time. You are successful. I’m always wanting to bring other voices other than my own to talk about what’s your priorities. So you are in tune with these energies. It’s the year of the fire horse. What are you prioritizing this year? What are the things that you’re focusing.
Kristina Hollinger
On and what are the things that.
Nicole Laino
Maybe you’re not focusing on?
Kristina Hollinger
Oh my gosh, I love this question. I’m like, where do I go with it? Okay, so pull me back to the year of the horse if I get too off track here because I really first and foremost want to say when we talk about success in business. So I have, I work full time in public education and I also have a six figure side business and that did not happen overnight. And so. And I’m also a human design projector, so I only have so much energy during the day. So when you talk about priorities, like, I really have got to prioritize my energy and I’ve had to learn over the years how to not just completely deplete my tank, you know.
Kristina Hollinger
So I would say most recently in the past three years, I’ve been able to create a sustainable six figure business on repeat because I’ve learned how to invest in a business mentor. I think that was the biggest thing I could have done for myself. And here, from the feng shui angle, I will tell you, I didn’t mention this, but I literally manifested my own way to hgtv. So I started my career just as a mom who worked in public education. And I was like, literally like sitting on my couch watching hdtv, Windy City rehab while my kids went to bed. It was like my mommy, my me time, the only me time I had. You know, when your kids are really young. And this is about, I don’t know, like 2020, right? So we’re looking at six years ago.
Kristina Hollinger
Literally it was pre pandemic, I should say. So it was probably 2019. And I used feng shui to set my intention and followed signs to determine what kind of action to take. And Allison Victoria asked me to come on her show and, you know, I thought that was going to be like the pinnacle moment of my career. I made it to hgtv. Like, all the clients are going to flood in. And it was just like truly just the beginning for me because, like, I didn’t even have this website built out yet or anything. So all of this to say, prioritizing my feng shui practice has been huge because ultimately what feng shui has helped me to do is, I told you, there’s a place called the Helpful people travel space. The front right area of your home is to helpful people travel.
Kristina Hollinger
And in feng shui, we say you have to pay attention to helpful People travel because it’s going to influence your wealth. And you need a network of helpful people to help you to live out your dreams, to build your wealth. And over the years, the right people would come into my life at the right time. So like I told you, a business mentor hiring like a virtual assistant slash business manager, those types of things, knowing which masterminds to join, going on spiritual business retreats to network with other women, yes, they were scary investments financially at the time and they stretched me. But putting yourself in the room, I would not be here today without that sisterhood.
Kristina Hollinger
So my business has become what it is today in the past three years because of the feng shui adjustments I did, because of the helpful people who came into my life and then also knowing when to actually take action. And then we didn’t even talk about the Year Horse. So I’ll get there too.
Nicole Laino
No, and I just wanted to acknowledge that I think, you know, you brought up an investment a lot. Investment in the business, in where it’s mentorship. I think we’ve all invested in things that didn’t turn out like we had hoped. But there’s intentional investment is the thing that moves you forward in a way that you couldn’t move yourself forward. You might think that you could, but it would take you so much longer. And I have all of those I can point to. There are specific investments I made that I’m like, I am not where I am without this. Some of them turned into like dollars immediately.
Nicole Laino
And some of them were just making me who I needed to be in order to be the person who could reach my dreams, who could achieve what I had written down on my goal sheet and visualized all of those times. I don’t think that people. I think there’s a bit of PTSD in the business mentor coaching space with a lot of people because they feel like they over promising and under delivering happens a lot. And they beat themselves up for not achieving what other people have achieved. If I did that and I stopped, I wouldn’t be here right now because there were so many times where I was supposed to have a certain result by the end of a particular program and I didn’t, but I just wasn’t there yet. I just had to keep going with it.
Nicole Laino
I just had to keep growing and now I’m where I’m at and it’s because of all of that stuff that I did. So I love that you brought that up, but let it. Let’s talk about the Year of the Horse. What are your thoughts? What are Your. Is there any particular way that you’re approaching this?
Kristina Hollinger
Well, you really hit on something. Like, at the time of this recording and the time of this filming, it’s Mercury retrograde. We’re still in the eclipse season. And so people are still feeling like, wait, I thought this was the year of the horse, the year of freedom, momentum, independence, and, like, movement. And it is. It’s just not yet. Like, there’s. It’s almost like this final shed of the snake. It’s like we just want it to be done, but when you think about we’re in the fire energy. So what I can say from a feng shui lens is last year and the year before, were in two years of wood element. So the wood element fostered growth and flexibility, maybe a focus on finances, especially in the year of the wood dragon that were in the year of the wood snake.
Kristina Hollinger
Now we’re in the year of the fire horse, and fire is going to burn everything away that no longer serves us. It’s like the phoenix rising, right? So it’s kind of like it’s. And it’s a this, like, jolt, right? Because you’re going from, like, the year of the yin snake, which is, like, very intrinsic and strategic. And now you’re in this. Like, it aligns with the astrology, too. Like Neptune and all these other planets, Saturn, they’re all in fire elements in Aries. Right. So that is just as a collective. We’re just feeling this jolt of energy. And it can be a little bit jarring, but we’re going to get adjusted. And I do feel that the momentum’s coming.
Kristina Hollinger
And what I will say is that especially for women in business, since that’s so many of you listening, you know, this is the year to charge ahead and be intentional and be yourself, essentially, like, kind of go against the grain a little bit and not really worry so much what people think, because from a numerology aspect, we’re in a one year. It’s all about independence. And the thing is people who resist charging ahead and moving forward, the universe ultimately is going to nudge you and push you in ways that can be uncomfortable. Doing that intentionally can ultimately feel so much better.
Nicole Laino
Yeah, I am a horse. I’m a year of a horse person, which I know is not traditionally, like, I’m wearing my horse. Because I’ve heard from what I understand is that when it’s your year, it’s like your animal leaves you to go be doing everything for the collective. So it’s like I’ve adorned myself in horse stuff, I wear red and wear every day. Like, just all these, like, little things that I’m trying to, you know, get into the energy around. But the way I understood the fire horse and what I understand it to be and what I’m kind of taking out of it is the year to let yourself shine. It is the year to kind of say, like, just everything that’s not, you let it burn away. And I really see it as a prep for 2027.
Nicole Laino
Like, when 2027 comes, it will be the fire horse year ending. And now we’re into a whole epoch of personal development and personal power. So that’s how I see it. And I think that tools like feng shui and tools like human design, I think that they’re going to be something that is incredibly supportive to people in this time.
Kristina Hollinger
I love it. And I have something for you and for the listeners, because you brought up that you’re a horse, so you have your horse charm on, which I love that for you. And ultimately, like, I’m actually, I’m a rat. And it’s like the opposite sign of the horse. And so as I was doing all of the research about the year, it kept saying things like, oh, this is going to be a terrible year for the rat. If you’re a rat, don’t worry, it’s fine. You know, feng shui, so you’re going to be okay, but just do your feng shui adjustments. You’ll be okay. But for everyone listening, the secret friend of the horse is the goat. It’s interchangeable between a goat or a sheep.
Kristina Hollinger
So if you get a charm that’s a goat or a sheep and carry that with you, put it in your wallet, you can add it to your necklace that you’re wearing. Nicole. It’s actually going to help bring you peace because the horse can be very impatient, somewhat aggressive sometimes, you know, it’s like you’re charging ahead. So the sheep and the goat kind of reminds you to, like, slow and steady wins the race, and, like, just keep chugging along even when the momentum starts to burn you out. So just a little word of wisdom. I think it could help ease your year a little bit, especially if you get a little tired of all the action, because there’s going to be a lot of it.
Nicole Laino
I love that. Now, how can people stay in touch with you? How can they get to know more about your work and all of that? Your podcast, tell everybody all the things.
