HD Profile 5/2 Heretic/Hermit

Episode 378

Ever feel like you’re meant to lead but just want to be left alone? If that tug-of-war sounds familiar, you might be living the 5/2 experience. In this episode, Nicole unpacks the complexity of the Heretic Hermit profile—a powerful yet often misunderstood combination in Human Design.

You’ll explore how the 5/2 operates with both projected lines, why its gifts must be self-recognized before they can truly shine, and what makes this profile fundamentally different from the 5/1. Nicole explains how the tension between public expectation and private genius can create confusion—and how understanding this pattern can unlock clarity, especially in how you show up in your purpose and business.

Expect eye-opening insights on projection, self-recognition, and why authority is non-negotiable for the 5/2. Nicole also shares famous 5/2s who exemplify the profile’s quiet strength and influential presence in the world.

Whether you’re a 5/2 or just fascinated by how Human Design shapes expression and leadership, this episode offers a fresh perspective you won’t want to miss.

Episode 378

Hello and welcome to Unshakeable With Human Design. I’m your host, Nicole Leno, and we are back. I know a lot of you have been asking, are we going to finish the profile series? And the answer is yes. The weight is over back by popular demand. We are finishing out these last three profiles that we have.

I’m sorry we took a break. We had some things going on here where we had to switch the programming for a little bit, just for a couple of weeks. No big deal. Not too much. Now we are back and we are back with the profile series and we’re back with a vengeance. We’re back with the five two profile, the five two, the heretic hermit.

We are continuing our jaunt through all 12 profiles. We are in the land of transpersonal destinies now, so we closed out all of the personal destinies. In that first couple of weeks, we did all of the 1, 3, 1, 4, 2, 4, 2 5. We went through all of the personal destinies. We took a little stop in the one juxtaposition profile and now we are in transpersonal destiny.

We kicked that off with the five one in the last episode that what we’ve, where we left off at the profile series and now we are picking it up today with the five two. So what’s the difference between a personal and a transpersonal destiny? It’s because profile is so intrinsically linked to your purpose.

It is so linked to your incarnation cross. It is telling us what type of destiny do you have? Is your purpose and your purpose theme in life? In order for you to live out your purpose, you must live in alignment with your profile. In order to live out your purpose in accordance with your profile, you have to be leading from that correct place If you have a personal destiny.

It’s going to be very focused on you. A one three has all personal in their profile. The one is a personal profile line. The three is a personal profile line, meaning they are very self-focused. It’s your journey, it’s your stuff. It doesn’t have much to do with other people, and that doesn’t mean that you don’t have other people in your life.

Of course, of course you do. You’re a human being, but in order for you to live out your purpose, those people don’t matter as much. They matter where they might like tune you into something, but it’s gonna be right back to you. But now, if you are a trans personal destiny, which is 5 1 5 2 6 2 6 3, if you are one of those four profiles, then it will be imperative that you interact and offer something to other people in order to live out your purpose.

You’ll probably always feel pulled out like you can’t do it alone, no matter how much you may want to. So our last episode was the five one. Now we’re changing the five stays. The same personality number stays, stays the same, but our design number changes. We are changing the two, the one to the two. So that back number changes and that changes this profile very, very much.

And I think this is why I wanted to do the full profile series. We’ve done series on the lines before, or we’ve talked about the six lines, but when you put them together, you get a different person. Just because you’re a five line, if you have a two with that five or a one with that five or a three with that five, that’s gonna change that expression tremendously.

So now we have the five too. So in this case, we have a five that is like, I’ve got something for you. I’ve got something for you. That projections feel like a lot, but I feel like I need to be out there with these people. I need to lead. And the two is saying just leave me alone. I just really would prefer to be alone.

Two is personal. The two is saying, just let me do my thing and do it by myself. And the five is saying, no, we can’t do that. When you’re a one three, you don’t have one of those pieces that’s pulling you being like people, people, people. You might have other things in your chart that are doing that, but that profile, that purpose in order for it to be lived out, not as important for you for these 5 1, 5, 2, 6, 2, 6, 3 imperative.

Nothing will ever feel quite right. If you aren’t preparing to universalize for a five and externalize what you know, or you aren’t actually putting it out there. And what we’re gonna talk about the five two today, ’cause this is very different than the five one, and you’d think just changing from a one to a two, how much could it change?

Well, it changes a lot. The very big difference between a one line. That craves security, that craves knowledge that is always digging deeper, that its process is to investigate and investigate some more. And then it’s kind of like, it’s almost like digesting information all the time and that’s what’s causing breakthroughs.

That’s what’s causing whatever it universalizes with that five. Two isn’t interested in all of that investigating. It doesn’t mean that they don’t like to study. It doesn’t mean that they don’t get into things, but it’s more about their journey. Is more about finding their own magic. Now, before we get into all of that, I want to bring up that we have the Content By Design program is available for you guys if you’re interested in profile, if you wanna know how to incorporate profile into your business, specifically around writing content and finding your voice.

We created something that is very small. It’s really in depth. However, it is very cheap. We wanted to give you something to break a piece off and try it before you go deeper with us, or if you’re looking to try to figure out how you incorporate human design into your business, we wanted to give you something that was bite size that would be really easy for you to implement, not just learn.

We created this for you. All you have to do is DM me the word content on Instagram, and I’m at Nicole o Official, and we will send you the link there or go to nicole o.com/content and you can grab that right there on the website. But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the five and the two are both projected profile lines.

These are the two profile lines that carry projection. And what that means is that people see something in they project. Onto you. And remember our house analogy, the two line is on the first floor right there level with everybody else, you know, pulled open, dancing in front of the window, but it has no idea that people are watching and studying and getting taken in by them and getting interested in them.

They’re just, they’re, they’re like oblivious to it. But they do know, because I heard from a lot of twos that it feels vulnerable, particularly when there’s the two in the front. I think because it’s unconscious, they’re less conscious of this when we have a five two, where they’re maybe not consciously aware of that, or they might be, if they’ve done some work where they’ve started to notice these things, they’ve just become more self-aware.

And then you have the five on the second floor that there’s like these sheer drapes drawn, closed. I. And that five is standing there peeking out and people are looking up saying, what’s happening up there? So mysterious. That’s the traditional way of describing the projection fields. What I notice is it’s like the two people are looking into you and finding your gifts.

Whether they’re right or wrong about that is a different story. This is why authority is so important for people with a projection field. It’s important for everybody, but here’s why it’s important for the projection field. ’cause you can’t trust whether people say you have to hear that. Feel that, pass it through your authority and go Do I agree?

’cause if you took everything that somebody said, you would be constantly turning around and then what ends up happening with the projection field, if you feel like you’ve been projected on a lot, you’ve taken it personally, you’ve believed what other people have said. The five is getting a lot of what people think you can do for them.

The two is getting, oh, you know what you should do, you should do this, you should do this. You’re so great at that. You’re so great at that. That can actually feel like a lot of pressure. I’m a five one. I’m like, I wish somebody would be like, you’re so great at that. Because I feel like the five gets a lot of, here’s what you could do for me.

I’m interested in you because you could do something and when you’re not doing it, maybe I’m less interested in you. The two draws people in a little bit differently, and that sounds appealing to somebody like me who has absolutely felt like when I’m no longer useful, I’m no longer thought of. I no longer take that personally.

I. What happens is before we understand what the projection field is, we do take it personally. Most of us, we don’t like the projection field. It’s exhausting. It is something where twos, when they’re younger, they don’t know who they are because they’re taking in so much from other people that they don’t actually really get to tune into what they feel are their gifts.

Now, the five two operates different than all the other two profiles. The five two does have to. Call itself up. It’s your own talents. And this is the interesting thing about this one. So yes, people are going to project on you. They’re gonna tell you what you’re good at. They’re gonna tell you what they think you would be wonderful at.

They’re gonna tell you what they think that you should do. But for a five, two, your journey is about discovering your gifts. I’m a five one. I universalize what I know. What I dig into, what I have studied, what I go deep on, human design, the way that I teach it, all of the modalities that I’ve picked up.

How to expand yourself. How do I do that in this universalizing fashion of making sure that this is a comprehensive thing that doesn’t make you feel like it’s one step? ’cause it never is. I’m here to give you a clear path to creating that kind of change. All the tools that go with it and universalizing these things so that it’s easy to understand.

The two doesn’t work that way. The five two is like, this is my thing. I really love this thing. I’m really into this thing. I feel like this is my gift and I’m gonna engage with life and I’m gonna do something with it. I don’t even know what that is yet, but I trust that it’s coming and I trust that if I keep engaging with life, and especially like, so if you’re, you know, your type is gonna inform this.

If you’re a generator, a manifesting generator, that’s gonna inform how you’re engaging with life. If you’re a projector, it’s gonna show up differently for you. But it’s always asking that question, what are my gifts? There’s gonna be natural talents that you have as a two, and only you really know what they are.

Other people will see them. However, if you’re waiting for them to make you feel good about it, you will be waiting forever, and the five will never be satisfied. The five will never get to do what it’s meant to do. So it’s imperative that five twos recognizing themselves, be really seeing what their gifts are, seeing the value in them.

Not trying to over-engineer them, but nurturing those gifts and trusting that if they follow their strategy and authority owning those gifts, people will see them. People will ask them to lead, which is what the five really wants. If five is saying like, I gotta plan, I could do this for you, I could help, I really can help, but you’re helping with what you’re naturally good at.

It’s not gonna be the way that it is for me. So I encourage all the five twos to really just look at yourself in the mirror, watch yourself during the day, be like, what’s my gift? And if you don’t know what that is, don’t put pressure on yourself to find it. It’s there. A lot of times you’re just kind of denying them or taking them for granted.

So just make it a point to open yourself up to them and to open yourself up to the fact that something that you do is probably gonna be unconventional. It’s gonna be different than what other people are doing may, they may not get it. You have to embrace your weird as a two. If you have a two in your profile, there is some weird, there is some kind of like interesting kinda quirky quality about you.

Don’t hide that. Lift it up. Embrace it, showcase it, show people what it is, dance like nobody’s watching. I promise you. They will watch and they will keep watching and they will understand you and they’ll understand what you can do for them. When you start to really embrace that uniqueness, that’s you. So some famous five twos.

I like to do this. ’cause I think it’s sort of, I think when you get listen back to the series and go back to the other episodes, when you hear the examples that I give, do you see a difference in just like a vibe of these people? What type of people they are? I. Three famous five twos. Again, we are in that, these are an interim five, two is an interim profile.

Main profiles are five one, and then six two. The five two in between, there’s a short window for somebody, it’ll be a five, two, they are rarer. Then five ones and six twos. Same thing with the six. Three is one of those, the one of those, the in-between profiles, right? So when we’re in that in-between profile, we don’t have a as large a sample.

We’re gonna have fewer of these. I see fewer five twos than I see of five ones and fewer five twos than I see of six twos. Same thing with the six three. I see fewer of them, but they’re there. They’re not as rare as like a four one, but they are rarer than their other types. So notice if you can notice the difference.

So famous five twos, Abraham Lincoln, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jacob Barnett. You may not know who he is, but he’s a mathematician. He’s one of those child prodigies. He’s like a theoretical physicist, has been, you know, going to like Ivy League school since he was like 12 years old or something like that. He’s one of those kids, talent, two talent, and now he’s leading one of these groups.

I think he’s like 25 or 26 now, but he’s child prodigy. This is what I mean about twos. They’re talent. They didn’t have to work at it. They were born that way. There’s something special that they came into the world with. Sometimes it’s easy to spot, you know, you have a talent, you’re like, I’m better at math than, you know, grownups that are in that are teaching at Harvard.

You know, that’s an easy talent to spot. Yours might be a little bit more covert, but it’s there. You’re a five two, it’s there. I. Catherine Bigelow, uh, she’s a famous director in Hollywood. She’s famous for directing like The Hurt Locker. She won the Oscar. She’s the first woman to win Best director at the Oscars.

So she’s a naturally talented woman, really, and obviously the director is the leader. She had to be seen that way. It’s not an easy job for a woman to get, unfortunately, even though we have so many talented, amazing women who are. Quite frankly, running circles around the men as far as like the quality of the work that they’re putting out, but we’re not seeing them necessarily get the funding that the men get.

Katherine Bigelow is somebody who, you know this, she was one of those not first women ever to direct. Certainly to be given a big budget and to, to direct a movie like The Hurt Locker was something out of the ordinary at the time. She had to be recognized for that talent and, and she was recognized then and she was recognized at the Oscars that year and she’s the first woman to win the Oscar for Best Director.

So I hope that this starts to illustrate and I’ll just read off my five ones again. So just, you heard the list of five twos? The five ones. Taylor Swift, Ann Frank, Paul McCartney, lady Gaga. Madonna, Nelson Mandela, queen Elizabeth, Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Putin. So we have this, there’s a forcefulness of the five one, right?

And there’s almost like a quiet talent quality to the five two. So think that’s an interesting contrast to see. I hope you love this episode. I hope that you’re loving this series. I promise we are continuing uninterrupted for the rest, I appreciate you. If you wanna get your hands on content by the design and start integrating human design into your business through the path of content and through the path of finding your voice, your unique voice and your unique flow.

We’re really talking about productivity. How do I. Write content easier. That sounds like me. That feels like me. We have all of that We do by type and profile inside of content by design. It’s a very comprehensive program, but it’s also very bite-size in the sense that you can action it right away and it will not take you months to go through.

You can go through this quickly and start implementing right away. All you have to do is DM me the word content on Instagram. I’m at Nicole Leno official.
