Rave New Year 2026: What the Human Design Collective Chart Reveals About the Year Ahead

The calendar may have flipped to 2026, but according to Human Design, the new year hasn’t actually started yet.

If you’ve been feeling like you’re not quite ready to accelerate, like momentum hasn’t fully kicked in, there’s a reason for that. The Human Design New Year doesn’t begin until the sun transits into Gate 41, which happens on January 21st at 8:00 PM Eastern (January 22nd for those in Europe and other time zones further ahead). Gate 41 is associated with the amino acid methionine, which is the start code in DNA that signals the protein process to begin. This is why this particular transit marks the collective’s birthday. It’s the energetic starting gun for the year.

Just like you can have a Human Design reading done for your solar return each birthday, we can run a chart for the Rave New Year and look at the themes that will shape the collective experience. And I have to be honest: I’ve never seen a chart like this one. I went back more than ten years, running charts for each year, and I couldn’t find anything with this many repeating themes. The patterns in this chart are practically beating us over the head.

If you want to follow along with your own chart as we go through these themes, you can run your Human Design chart here to see where these gates and channels live in your own design.

2026 Is an Emotional Projector Year

Every year carries a specific type and authority based on the chart we run at the Rave New Year. This year, we’re an emotional projector.

Last year was a manifestor year with the 35-36 channel driving much of the action. There was a lot of initiating change, trailblazing, massive shifts. This year is different. Projector energy is more measured, more about guiding what has already been created rather than forcing new things into existence. The emotional authority means we’ll need to ride out emotional waves before we find clarity on the big decisions facing the collective.

What’s particularly significant is that this year’s defining channel is the 40-37, the channel of community. This connects the emotional center (solar plexus) to the ego center. It’s the channel of bargains, of how we take care of each other through systems and agreements.

The Last Year of the Cross of Planning

Here’s why this matters so much: we are in the final year of the Cross of Planning.

The Cross of Planning is made up of four gates: the 9th gate, the 16th gate, and the 40-37 channel. This cross has been the background frequency for the world since the year 1610. Over four hundred years. It’s what gave us our institutions, our governments, our corporations, our social systems. The tribal energy of building together, taking care of each other through organized structures.

In February 2027, we officially shift into the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix and close the book on the Cross of Planning. No one really knows exactly what will happen, but things will change. We’re moving from a tribal theme of collective support to a more individual frequency.

And what’s fascinating is that the 40-37 channel, the very channel that defines the Cross of Planning, is our seeing theme for 2026. Our collective nodes are in these two gates. The nodes shape what we see and how we see it. So in this last year, we’re being asked to look out into the world and really observe: are these systems working? Do they still serve the people they were built to serve?

What the 40-37 Channel Is Asking Us

The 40th gate is the gate of aloneness, the gate of loving to work. The 37th gate is the gate of loyalty and affection. Together, they form a bargain: I take care of you materially, you take care of me emotionally. There’s a structural side and an emotional side to every agreement, every relationship.

This channel looks to institutions for solutions. It doesn’t say “I will do it.” It says “What can we build to take care of this for everybody?” That’s how we got here. That’s how we built everything we have.

For this last year under the Cross of Planning, we’re going to be looking around and asking: Can’t someone do something about all of this? Who can fix this?

The 37th gate asks us whether our institutions take care of people. Do our laws protect people? Do our governments serve people? Do our systems actually work for the people they’re meant to serve? And if not, who do they really belong to?

The 37th gate is going to keep asking: Do you care enough?

The line themes reinforce this. The 37th gate in the fourth line is about leadership through exemplary behavior. Are we going to see whether our leaders actually demonstrate exemplary behavior? And do we care whether they do or not?

The 40th gate in the fourth line is about organizing for the purpose of liberation. It’s the intuitive power to include only positive forces into an organization.

These aren’t abstract questions. They’re practical ones. Do you see what’s happening? Will you do something about it?

If you’re trying to understand how these themes might be playing out in your own life and business, a personalized Human Design reading can help you see where your design interacts with these collective frequencies.

Gate 41: The Gate That Won’t Stop Repeating

I’ve never seen a gate show up four times in a Rave New Year chart. I went back over a decade and couldn’t find anything like it. The 41st gate appears in the sun, Mercury, Venus, and Pluto. That’s a lot.

Gate 41 is called the Gate of Contraction, but it’s really the Gate of Hope. It’s that moment before you take off after something. All the pressure builds in the pot until there’s enough to launch. It’s the fuel for something new.

With the sun in the first line and in detriment, we might see more of the shadow side: hotheadedness, the urge to release feelings without reason, overexertion because we’re convinced of our own capabilities. The light side is reasonableness, being cool-headed. We’re going to be battling with that uncomfortable pressure and potentially not being able to control our feelings, doing things that feel half-baked.

Mercury in this gate means our communication might swing between being a voice of hope and being too cautious or too reactive. We might say things we don’t mean or fail to follow through on what’s really in our hearts.

Venus in the 41st gate in the fourth line speaks to our values and relationships. In its shadow, this is about holding onto feelings to prevent correction, not doing enough to overcome limitations. In its light, it’s about wanting something so badly that the obstacles disappear. If you want it bad enough, that desire takes care of everything else.

Pluto in the 41st gate asks us to transform through cautious pragmatism and philanthropy. It’s about caring for others, putting yourself out there selflessly, doing what matters just because it matters.

The Collective Wound: Gate 25 and Neptune

Neptune has been sitting in the 25th gate for about a year now. This is the gate of innocence, the gate of universal love. We are all one. It’s an identity gate about how we connect spiritually to the collective.

Neptune is where the veil needs to be lifted. It’s where we might have blind spots. And the 25th gate teaches us something important: when we do our work on ourselves, when we work through our wounds, we don’t just heal ourselves. We heal the collective.

There is a collective consciousness. There is a collective wound. And if we have unseen, unfelt things in us, it doesn’t just hurt us. It hurts other people who are connected to us. Every time we heal a wound in ourselves, we heal a little piece of the whole.

When I think about the 25th gate in this context, I think about the wars, the racism, the battles between groups that have been fighting for eons. Is there hope to heal them? The 25th gate says maybe we need to start with ourselves.

What I see on social media now is a lot of unfelt pain and anger being ping-ponged back and forth. People throwing their pain at each other because nobody knows what to do with all of it. It’s triggering after triggering after triggering. That triggered my unfelt pain, so I’m going to throw it back at you. That triggered yours, so you throw it back at me.

If you do healing work, if you’re an energy worker, if you help people with their trauma, your work is needed now more than ever. There are a lot of people walking around in such pain, and it’s not just hurting them as individuals. It’s hurting all of us.

Gate 36: Crisis and Justice

Saturn sits in the 36th gate, the gate of crisis. The sixth line theme here is about justice, the knowledge that justice will triumph. It’s the possibility to master crisis by maintaining a correct attitude.

We are in crisis. A lot of people feel that way. The 36th gate teaches us that this is an emotional gate. Emotionality has to be weighted out for clarity before taking action. We need clarity. In this particular space, we’re being asked to be disciplined and perhaps to seek justice.

Gate 8: Contribution and Lending Your Voice

Uranus is in the 8th gate, the gate of contribution. This gate is about lending your voice to something that matters and allowing that to be a reflection of who you are and what you believe. It’s a reflection of your identity.

With Uranus here, we might see innovation in how we get our messages out. New ways of contributing. Changes in how we speak up and show up.

If you’re not someone who shouts on social media, that doesn’t mean you’re not part of this. There are other ways to get involved. Do the things around your heart that feel right and aligned for you.

What This Means for You

This is a collective reading, not a personal forecast. Your life will still go on. You will still be able to grow and succeed. But understanding these themes can help you navigate the collective energy we’re all swimming in.

You can run your Human Design chart to see where these gates live in your own design and how they might be influencing your personal experience this year.

The big questions this year are going to be: Do you care enough? Will you work hard enough? What do we want to save from the old systems? What needs to change?

We’re being given one last chance under the Cross of Planning to look around and decide what we want to carry forward. The frequency of caring, of taking care of each other, of building things together, that cycle is ending. But I don’t believe that means we stop caring. I think we have a choice. We always have a choice.

Maybe there’s a new system that can come out of this. Maybe we can dream it up now. Maybe it looks very different from what we’ve had.

I hope we pass the test. I hope we end up caring enough and we do something about the things that are happening.

Your voice matters. Your action matters. The work you do on yourself matters. Because when you heal your own wounds, you heal a piece of the collective wound too.
