Episode 418:

Hello, and welcome to Unshakable with Human Design. I’m your host, Nicole Laino. And we’re just sitting here, the two of us, today, hanging out on what is for you, a Wednesday morning. If you’re listening to this, on the day this episode drops. And I have been really feeling called to talk about the bigger picture of a lot of this stuff. And my job is always to show you how human design can help you navigate some of the things in your life, in your business. And let’s be frank, if you are an entrepreneur, you. Your life is going to creep into your business all over the place, whether you realize it or not. Your shortcomings become the business’s shortcomings, your attachments and weird energy becomes the business’s weird energy. We bring ourselves into it because we are the business most entrepreneurs are. 

A lot of them are growing a personal brand. And even if you’re not, if you are leading in any way, you understanding yourself and you being able to lead from a place of authority and from integrity. And what I’m talking about is energetic integrity. You’ve heard me before. You know, this show is called Unshakable with Human Design. What does it mean to be unshakable means that you can handle whatever comes your way. It means that you show up no matter what, and you do that from a place of alignment, not a place of force, or you don’t want to come at it from a place of obligation, but, like, from a place of joy, of being. Like, this is what I’m here for. I am unshakable. There’s nothing that I can’t handle. 

Because underneath all of that, these are all core tenants of what you need to be a successful entrepreneur, what you need in order to really be able to lead yourself, not just through one phase of business. I think we have this idea that, like, well, you’re struggling in the beginning, and then you get a handle on it, and then everything is smooth sailing after that. You know, once you start making six figures or once you start making multiple six figures or once you start making seven figures, then all your problems go away. And that’s just not true. I’m not at seven figures, so I can’t speak to that. One, but from the people I know that are there, they’re certainly not sitting in any place where they’re like, there are no problems anymore. They’re different problems and they’re on a different scale now. 

The stakes are higher. So how do we use human design to navigate this leadership journey? It is more than just understanding your chart, it’s understanding yourself. I just taught a little mini program called Answering the Call and it was all about is a journey through the Incarnation Cross, which is your purpose in human design. It’s your purpose theme, it’s your life theme. And it’s very interesting for me because I take people through incarnation Cross all the time. In Business By Design, inside my signature program, we do that on a one one basis. In the business readings that I do for those people in there, I do it for business readings that people buy from me. Just a la carte off the website, I watch this. 

But in Business By Design, I have you for a year, so I’m working with you through that process and I see the transformation that happens. And I think that’s the real benefit of having done this for a long time and worked with so many people, is I can look at people and I can spot them in the problem and I can tell them, I promise you, this gets better if you listen to me and you do this thing. And it isn’t usually an action. It’s a. I want you to shift your perspective here. I want you to lean back a little bit. I think you’re forcing and I’ve seen it so many times that I can say with certainty and authority, I need you to trust me here. 

So really being able to use human design to navigate something like purpose, what I see is a lot of people inside this program, you know, they get stuck in the intellectualizing of their chart. They get stuck in the intellectualizing of their human design. But I was telling them all, I was like, you know, Stephen Covey has a really famous quote, you know, begin with the end in mind. And I was telling them, I’m like this answering the call program. It’s an activation to think that I’m going to take you through your entire purpose, I’m taking them through the whole thing, but that you’re going to be there and you’re like living your purpose and you have no problems. After two weeks, I wish I could make a real promise like that. 

Most of us are not even close to there, but we get initiated into these next level version of ourselves, these next iterations and evolutions of our own process. And our own evolution and change and our own transformation in our journey. For me, you know, what was interesting for me was looking at, you know, and this is what I mean about the big picture, because we look at the purpose, and a lot of people will look at the incarnation cross, and they’ll be like, okay, tell me what my purpose is and tell me how I get there. And then some people who are a little bit further along will say, okay, I get that this is my purpose now. I just need to know what it means a little bit and how do I work this into my offers. And I’m hoping. 

It seems like we’ve had a really amazing group of people in the Answering the Call program. And I do think that they’re starting to get this, and I truly hope that they all do, because they. What we’re doing is it’s not about intellectualizing it. It is about becoming somebody different through the process. If I go back to when I first encountered my incarnation cross five years ago, and I looked at it and I read it, and I was very confused, very overwhelmed, and I just didn’t see how that could be me. There were little glimpses of it. But it’s funny, the things that stood out for me then are not even close to the things that stand out for me now. And I created these. 

We sold these individual Incarnation cross reports to people who opted them for the program, and I ran one for myself. Like, I looked at my own incarnation cross report, and I read it again, and I looked at it and I was like, oh, wow. It’s so different to me now. It is my understanding of it, but understanding isn’t an intellectual understanding. Understanding is like, in my bones, I’ve become somebody different. That when we use human design to understand ourselves on a deep soul level, then we’re unshakable. There’s nothing we can’t handle because we get how we operate and who we are and what we’re here for. Begin with the end in mind. The incarnation cross should be this, like, North Star guiding light. 

Of like, okay, I’m going in this direction kind of similarly, if you were following the North Star, if you were sailing a boat on the open sea, you know, you don’t know if there’s an island there. You don’t know. You’re like, I’m just gonna go in this direction and trust that this is the right way. Until something else comes across my path and tells me differently or tells me that there’s another course that I should be taking. That’s how you have to treat it like it’s some far off thing that you’re just saying, I trust that this is in the general direction of where I’m supposed to be going. If I go back to five years ago when I first encountered my cross, I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing. And I did ask those questions. What should I be doing? 

What should my offers be? What should my brand be? How can I work this language into my copy? Because that’s what I thought human design for business was. I’m going to take this information and I’m going to weave it into my copy. Then I’m going to be magnetic and then people are going to come to me. And that’s partially true. You might find some of that works. Sometimes we can take some keynotes from our design. They open up just enough of us to start to get excited about something. We’re starting to speak our authentic language. We are starting to put ourselves out there. Sometimes it gives us permission. So we can see a little jolt from that. We can see some magnetism, we can see some reaction and response from the outside world that we’ve been looking for, which is wonderful. 

But what we don’t want to do is we don’t want to make it a formula. And that’s what a lot of people do. So I did that in the beginning. I absolutely went and tried to formulaically put together my brand based on my incarnation cross. Okay, well this means this, okay, 26, the gate. 26. Gate 26 is a transmitter, it’s a messenger, it is strategy. So I’m going to be strategic. You know, I’m going to teach people strategy. I’m going to blend strategy and energy. That’s what my cross is. And that’s true. Those are aspect of my chart. So I have the 64th gate and the 63rd gate on the conscious side, which are highly inspirational. These are very consciousness driven gates. So we’ve got that energetic ethereal side of possibility and potential and all of that and consciousness. 

And then on the other side we have the 45 and the 26, which are very tribal and very hierarchical and strategic and very much associated with business. With my limited experience with design and with myself and with really trying to grasp for answers. At the time I was like, well, strategy and energy, that’s what it is. And at the time I was teaching people how to write content on Instagram. That was what I was doing. I was like, this is how you write content. This is how, you know messaging content that sells all of that was all I did before human design and the other stuff that I do now. And if I had left it there at strategy and energy, that was all I could take in at that point. That was the best I could do with what I was given. 

There is so much depth, more depth to my chart, to my incarnation cross, to the fact that I’m a 5:1. All of that came through a gently walking the path of allowing these energies continue moving in alignment, living by my design, paying attention, contemplating gently, not in a way where I’m forcing answers and allowing these things, these flowers, to bloom in their time and to trust that they will. And the more that I trusted and the more that I expanded. Because recognize when you are thinking really hard and you’re trying to make something work, you are contracting. You are in a state of contraction. Your energy is contracting, your body is contracting. You’re trying to figure it out. You have just narrowed the pathway for things to come to you. 

We want to widen it and start attracting versus repelling things and not leaving enough room for the things that we want to drop in both inspiration and materially. Right? So I learned to walk this path. I learned to decondition. So I wasn’t in the shadows of my incarnation, cross gates and the rest of my design. I was in that. So why am I not living my purpose? That’s the better question. Not how do I work it into my business. It’s how do I overcome these problems? How do I overcome these shadows? How do I live in these gifts? The answer is you do the work. And most people don’t want to do that. They don’t know how. And quite frankly, I didn’t know how. It’s how what I’ve put together for my clients and for myself started with. 

But what I do for my clients, I am using my tools to help them decondition. And we’re working in EFT and NLP and breath work and visualizations. Human design is just the map. And you’ve heard me say that probably a million times at this point. Human design is the map. It’s not the treasure. The treasure is in you. And the map shows you where to go to look for the doors that might be locked, keeping your treasure from being seen, felt and experienced by you and the outside world. Everything that you want is on the other side of you. Everything that you’re trying to get to is on the other side of you. 

And if you start using human design as a way of opening yourself up rather than figuring yourself out, you will find that all the things that you are trying to make happen start actually happening. But there’s work involved. There is a path you must walk. And that path involves different things for different people and at different levels. It requires different things. But the thing that I find so amazing about human design is that, well, right now, you know, fast forward, I read my incarnation cross description and the report that we generate and that we do with from our data, created a report for myself and I read it and I’m like, oh my God, I’m living it. And I haven’t looked at it that way in a really long time. 

And when I started this journey with it, I did not know what I was building. All I knew was that by digging into those, the 64th gate and the 63rd gate, by looking at what my purpose is, I started to realize that business wasn’t the only thing. That there was a consciousness piece, that there was a spiritual piece. There was something about showing people a new way. There was something about educating people about what was really important, that it was more than just this tribal stuff on the other side. Right? So what that did was that gave me the courage to drop or put in the background the thing that was actually making me money. Strategically, it did not make sense. 

Strategically, this was a very scary move for me, was to stop putting content writing and business building and all of that stuff out front and now become like a human design, deconditioning energy first business. Especially because I’m not a priestess, not in the traditional sense of the word, although I’m starting to recognize my own experience and relationship with that as a Virgo and as this Scorpio moon. Like, it’s there, but I don’t come across that way. I’m not like, dressing all witchy and showing up, talking about, you know, my guides and my angels and. And I’m not knocking that at all. That’s just not who I am. That would be inauthentic for me. No. I’m a 4526. On that unconscious side, I can inspire the hell out of you. But there’s also going to be structure and strategy and tactics and leadership behind it. 

That’s who I am. I discovered that and I’ve been able to embody that. And I’m still working on it. By the way, I ain’t done. This isn’t me talking to you from the top of the mountain. I’m not an ascended master and I don’t present myself like that. I am a flawed human being who’s on this journey. Just like you. But what I am is I am devoted to this path of walking in alignment with your purpose and not treating it like a destination. And I am devoted to educating people about what I believe to be the important things, the truly important things to living a life that feels like yours so that you are a sovereign being. When I read those words before, when I first learned about human design, I was like, so I can help people. It’s the cross of dominion. 

I’m here to help people have dominion over themselves so that they can be sovereign beings and reach a new level of consciousness. And I was like, what? I teach content writing. What? But what there was truth was I was like, I do know that there’s more to this because there’s more to this for me because I’m confused and I’m stuck in my head and I’m having trouble. And when I just try to use the strategy piece, it’s not working. And I’m working so hard, but I’m not getting where other people are getting. There’s a different path for me. There’s something else. By following that path for myself, I started to. That was where I went into EFT certification. That was where I got my NLP certification. That was where I started that. And that’s where I found human design. 

If I never started going in that direction, if I never started following, I didn’t know it was my cross at the time. But by following something that was true to my cross, I discovered human design, which became the path forward. That I don’t think I know. I wouldn’t discovered or be in the place where I feel the way I do about who I am and what I’m here for. And that is where authority comes from. When you show up and you’re able to speak from a place that people go, I believe that from her, I believe she’s authentic in this. I believe that. I know I have that problem. And I think she’s the one who can help me solve it. I think she’s the person that can guide me through this. 

You don’t have to have a perfect message, but you do have to have something that feels like it resonates beneath the words and that you’ve lived it. I have lived the journey of my cross, and I still am. There’s so much more to it than just the words on the page. It’s embodying them, embodying this energy that is yours and embodying the gifts of it and not the shadows. We have to decondition. We have to face those shadows or we attract with those shadows, we live in them and our world is on a frequency and we’re experiencing a reality that is equal to the shadows and not to our gifts. 

For me, that looked a lot like living in a lot of confusion and never knowing what I was going to do and not able to commit to things because I was so confused all the time and always wondering is this the right thing to do? Maybe not. And second guessing myself and my unconscious side wanted so badly to go and do what it naturally can do to be strategic. But because this head center stuff on my conscious side was making me so confused and making me run in all different directions and not commit to anything because I was so scared I’d get it wrong. Sometimes I would hide and sometimes I would manically take action with absolutely no intention behind it. Just so afraid of standing still because I was afraid something wouldn’t happen. 

But now I live in those gifts most of the time. And first of all, it’s so damn fun. It’s really fun to learn about yourself at this level. To know what makes you tick, to know what sets you off. And if you are an entrepreneur, that is not optional. The level that you are able to rise to is going to be directly related to your ability to manage yourself, understand yourself and course. Correct. When you fall into a shadow, which we all do, when you end up a shadow in a shadow that you are able to shift quickly, what is the time between went over into the shadow and you were able to shift back or shift yourself back into alignment, how quickly can you do that? That is the difference between a 50k year, 100k year, a 300k year, a 500k year. 

It’s going to be about your ability to make those decisions and to shift yourself so that you are making decisions in alignment. And if something doesn’t work, you’re able to shift quickly. This is how you become a nimble human being. This is how you’re able to move and make all of those changes in expansion and not contraction. This is the energetic and the strategic game together. And I don’t even know what I’m calling this episode because I started recording and just kind of wanted to come on here and talk about that journey of purpose and how it is irreplaceable. I believe in an entrepreneur’s journey. Maybe if you have a job you could get by without it. I think life is a lot less fulfilling and I see more and more people wondering what their purpose is. 

We’re wondering what the hell are we here for? Why am I doing this? We want to feel like we are making something out of this life. And a lot of times we take our gifts for granted, and we think that things have to be the way that they are. And the truth is, we have a lot more control over it. But sometimes we just have a narrow way of thinking about things. But if you are on this entrepreneurial journey where you want to create your life and that’s what you’re doing, make no mistake, as an entrepreneur, you are moving from the world of the matrix of I have to play by the rules of the corporate job game. And you are shifting over into the like. I create my own possibilities, my own opportunities. I create my money. This is very advanced human. 

Not because entrepreneurs are better than anybody else. No, we picked a harder game. It isn’t the game where you get to just, like, wake up in the morning, your alarm goes off, you go and you punch the clock, and you do the job that you were told to do. Maybe you do it really well, maybe you don’t do it so well, but either way, when you show up for showing up, you get paid. That is the regular game, and that’s fine. I’ve played that game, too. I don’t particularly love rules, and I’ve always felt like my journey was somehow going to end up working for myself. I think I always knew that. I’m a 2644 channel of surrender. 

We don’t like rules. 

We don’t like bosses. We tend to be difficult to tame. And this just felt more right for me. But you know what? It demanded so much more for me than a job ever did. I worked 60 hours a week on Wall Street. I worked my ass off, and I was a dedicated employee for a long time. And then I still showed up, and I still did a great job, but I was dying inside because I really did not feel aligned with it anymore. But I did that, and I worked really hard. And when I say to people, you know, I worked 60 hours a week. It was the days of the BlackBerry. I slept with the BlackBerry under my pillow. I was working all the time. They’re like, wow, that must have been really hard. 

It was demanding and hard at times, but entrepreneurship, so much harder because I have to confront me at every level. I have goals. We are hitting our goal for 25. I’m very grateful to say my goal for next year is going to require a new level from me. It’s going to require. And what’s interesting is at this point, I Look at my purpose. And I’m like, it is so demanding of me now, where it’s like, you’re here now. You know what it is. You know what you’re here to do. You know how you have to show up. There’s no excuses anymore. You cannot play small. And I play a pretty darn big game compared to a lot of people. 

But where I am going requires an even bigger, much bigger level from me, a much bigger level of belief, a much bigger level of commitment, and a new devotion to my purpose. I have to answer the call again. We don’t answer it once. We answer it over and over again until we are the embodiment and the physical representation of our purpose walking around in the world.
