Hello, and welcome to Unshakable with Human Design, everyone. I’m your host, Nicole Laino, and it’s you and me today. And today is going to be kind of a personal episode. So over the last few months, I’ve had kind of some things going on and some changes that have been coming to light, and I have gotten thrown off my game. Doesn’t happen to me often, but with my gate of confusion leading my design, I get confused. Sometimes. I do. I’m really good at managing that confusion, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t have periods where even I get pulled off track. But in this episode, what I wanted to do was I wanted to share it with you.
Kind of the little story that I have and how human design brought me back to what is the most important for me to focus on in my business. Because what I say this all the time, I say, you know, it isn’t about finding the way. It’s about finding your way. That is a core tenant in my world, and that is what I built my whole business around. It’s the reason why I don’t just teach business. I probably could make more money and have different types of success if I did just focus on business or put business first. But the thing that matters the most to me is the fact that what I see for myself and for other people is when we play somebody else’s game, we lose. It’s not about finding the way.
I chased the way for a long time, and when I found my way, everything changed in my business. Suddenly I was, like, literally adding 50% to doubling my revenue because I didn’t get distracted, because I didn’t get pulled off my course, because I didn’t listen to people telling me it had to be this way or it had to be that way. I didn’t let too many voices in because mine was the strongest. And it changed my entire world. It changed everything. And if I’m being perfectly honest, I have lost a little bit of that. I. Not permanently, but I took a little. I’m talking about maybe two or three months of me sort of stepping out of that power a little bit for myself and finding my way back.
And that’s What I wanted to share with you today, I wanted to talk to you a little bit about my process, a little bit about what I’ve seen, what I see with other people as we’ve been working with people in different capacities and inside business by design, of course, I’m always working with entrepreneurs and this is honestly your ability as an entrepreneur to lead yourself. Every time you give your power away to something or someone, you diminish yourself energetically, you show up differently and then you’ll find that your path doesn’t move in a straight line from where you are to where you want to go. It’s all over the place. Even if you have a coach having a and I have coaches, I still work with people, I still get advice.
But to be in my power when I am interacting with them and to be in a place where I’m not showing up weekly or in lack asking for advice, I’m getting their opinion and I’m passing it through my authority before I move on anything, I’m passing it through my authority and feeling does that feel right for me or does that sound like something that worked for them? That maybe I can take the spirit of it, but I’m not looking to do it exactly like them because that’s not my way. Right. So that’s the difference. And if you’re interested incorporating human design into your business, I do have to say that we are running for the last time in 2025 and I don’t know, it may not come back in 2026.

So I’ll tell you a little bit about this story. So I have big goals, and I had a plan, and I was enacting that plan, and it was working, and it’s all working really well. I want to say this. We are having the best year I’ve ever had in this business. We have added another hundred thousand dollars in revenue from last year. We have increased profit. Like, it’s a really great year. This is not me complaining.
But even when you have great results, sometimes we’re not looking at them. Sometimes conditioning takes over, and you hear what other people are doing. And I was in this growth space in my head. So I’m listening to all these people, and I’m like, oh, that’s what they’re doing. Okay, cool, I’m gonna do that too. And I started to let other people’s opinions in. Not in a way that was me being the authority first. And I didn’t feel like I was horribly misaligned. But they’re looking back on it. I’m like, no, you didn’t want to do that, Nicole. And you did it because you felt like it would get you what you wanted. My ego took over, and some of my small t trauma took over, too. I wanted people to like me. I wanted to be accepted.
Some of those little wounds that I have healed on a bigger level, they’re not festering anymore, but they still carry a little bit of a charge. And we don’t know that sometimes until we are quote, unquote triggered, until we are put in a situation where we’re forced to face it, and we notice that, oh, I am still influenced by this shadowy part of me. I am still wanting to fix it. I am still going into an unhelpful strategy, which is putting me into my conditioning and into my not self, where I’m not making decisions from my most powerful place. I’m not showing up as the most powerful magnetic version of myself. And this is where we get turned around. Okay, well, I’m not getting these results that I wanted. Things aren’t working the way that I thought they would.
So we think we need another strategy to solve it. So I fell into this pattern a little bit where I started. And like I said, things were going well. This is what conditioning does. This was not about me looking at the data and being like, nothing’s working. No, our revenue was there. Everything was going well. I’m not going to say that every single thing that we did went gangbusters, but there were a couple of things that, you know, didn’t perform as well. And I was like, oh, I could fix that. And I started to like shift into this massive action mode and. And I started to look outside rather than inside for my answers.
And what that did in a short period of time of me being in my conditioning was I started to look at the outside world and I started to grab at things that I thought would fix it. And let me know if you’ve ever felt that way, okay? I don’t know what to do and I don’t know how I’m gonna do it. And that’s what happened. Like, I’m like, oh, I wanna have this massive growth. And I started to do more stuff to try to get there. I started to look outside and be like, someone else must have the answer. And the truth was it was I was looking out in lack rather than looking at everything that I did have. I was like, I want more. I wasn’t coming from a place of I have so much and how can we make this better?
I wasn’t in a good place with my decision making. I wasn’t fully grounded. Now my version of this still looks pretty darn productive and I didn’t go off the rails too badly. It’s not like I ruined everything. But I sit here today and I’m like, oh, I got thrown off my game here. I wasn’t making decisions from my most powerful self. I wasn’t making decisions from my highest self. Some of them I did. But there were a couple that I look at and what we end up doing, they caused more confusion.
Some of the strategies I was employing that other people were doing that other people were telling me some very well meaning friends, some people in my sphere, you know, sometimes we mastermind with people and we respect people and they say, oh, this is your problem, this is what isn’t working for you. You should do this. I did this and it worked for me. And I was like, okay, yeah, sure, I could do that. And even thinking back to it, I can feel the energetic misalignment that was there. So one of the things that I was doing was I started to, I went into the, you know, how do I make these connections with people?
And I got really into these like belly to belly personal connections that I had to make with people, fully knowing that as a five line, that’s not how it Works for me. That’s not where my greatest influence is. That’s not what my business is built on. I’m a 5:1. The 5:1 rules. And I think part of me felt lonely and felt like, does it have to be like that? Does it have to be so lonely? Does it have to not involve people? And I think that this is the problem with looking at extremes. So as a 5:1, I don’t need to best friends with everybody. And in fact, when I am more mysterious and a little bit further away and I have some more wide net sort of content, it does better than being super close and needing to be close to people.
That’s not where my influence is greatest and that’s not where my impact is. My impact is in one lining through something, becoming an expert, putting my work out there, having this amazing work product and then putting it out to the world through a larger platform and letting it do its thing. If I look back, all of the evidence in my business says that is the way and it doesn’t mean that I don’t get to have friends. And I think that was where some of the this is what conditioning does. The hurt part of me was just like, why can’t we have friends? Nicole, you can have friends. It’s just not going to be. The friends that you make are not going to be your clients.
So if your goal is to build this business and you have these greater goals in mind, my strategy is going to look different than those other friends where all of their business comes from. Them flying to events and getting to know people and being best friends and them all collaborating and doing stuff together, that’s what works for them. And I get to have those relationships. That’s just not going to be the thing that grows my business. So it shouldn’t be my highest priority. It can be a priority for me personally. But business wise, if I’m in business growth mode, I know better than that. And I wasn’t listening to that. And what that caused was. And maybe you’ve experienced this too, where you go against your design and you end up being in more confusion.
You end up wasting time, you end up wasting other resources. You’ve diluted yourself now. You’ve taken your attention away from what would actually move the needle for you and you’ve actually created less consistency and stability in your business because you got thrown off your game. Now I’m grateful though that with human design I know how to bring myself back. First of all, I could look back and I could say I see where I got thrown off my game, then I could look forward and say, well, I know exactly what I need to do. Because here’s the other thing.
When you’re in growth mode in your business, and this is why it isn’t just human design that I teach in the Authority Accelerator masterclass, it is not going to be just a masterclass of me telling you what gates mean, what your gates mean and what all of this stuff means. You are the center of your business as an entrepreneur so you should be the first thing on your list that you are learning, that you are studying, that you are mastering. But strategy is important. You do need to understand how to employ strategy in your business or everything will always be hard. You’ll have a lot of tactics, but you won’t have anything that’s making them all work and you’ll end up creating more work for yourself. But when you are in growth mode.

So for me, I’m looking to grow my business significantly every year. We have a goal for next year to nearly double the business. That’s a lot. And I got a little bit caught up. That was a big goal. It started to feel like a lot. And I started to fall into the this is where strategic alone thinking can really screw with you. I started to get into I’ve got to do more, I have to do more. And the truth is that if you are really a growth minded individual and if you read any book or talk to anyone who’s made millions of dollars, they will tell you it’s actually about doing less but better. And that is what I stand for. That’s what got me to this point that I’m at.
We do over $300,000 a year in this business now, which that’s what we’re going to do this year. I’m very proud of that. And we did that through doing less but better. And I fell off of that. I did not do less but better. I instead was looking at it and saying how do I do more? And I did more and I did more. And all that’s doing is diluting my attention, my power and it’s keeping me from the things that will actually 10x my growth. I went into a linear growth mode by only looking at strategy. When we talk about energy, yes, we are talking about, you know, there’s manifestation and energetic alignment and magnetism and all of this, but it’s also the ability to be so centered and grounded that you make a decision that is correct for you.
Correct thinking, correct moves that Feel truly right for you and that will offer you the growth that you’re looking for without having to work more. All of my non sacrals, this is even more important for you. I have the energy to burn. I’m just pissed off that I burned it. And I will say this like it was my strategy and authority that brought me back. I was frustrated and I’m a manifesting generator. So I got frustrated and pissed. I was so angry and salty with people. I’m just so pissed off and not in a good place. And the reason is that I. I knew I was doing something that I did not like, I resented it. And if I start to resent my business, that is not how I’m meant to operate. I should have joy.
I should feel creatively inspired, I should feel moved to my work. And I do most of the time. But I had this little period where I really got turned around. But I’m so grateful I have human design because it brought me back. It brought me back to what is true. It brought me back to show me. Oh, wait, almost immediately. So I’ll tell you what I did. So I noticed this and I was like, I need to. So I journaled and I’m like, let me get all of my feelings out. Let me get all of my thoughts out. Let me really work through this problem because it’s all swimming in my head and I have an open head center and open ajna. My head can get really busy.
And what it will do is it will turn on something to a crazy degree and it will drive me crazy. Head center, mental pressure, open head center. I don’t know how to deal with mental pressure. So. So it just keeps building and it’s so uncomfortable that it starts to really, like, get into my body. I also have an open root center, which is more pressure, quote, unquote. I don’t know how to deal naturally with pressure. Adrenalized pressure, the pressure to perform, the pressure to evolve. So that’s that. Like, we’ve gotta go. When am I gonna do it? How am I gonna do it? That fear crept into me and I started to not make the greatest decisions. So I noticed this. I was able to notice how frustrated I was, notice how angry I was, and say, wait, this is not how I operate.
Let me take a look at this. So I wrote everything down and I journaled and I was like, let me get all of this out to know what is up in my head, because that will just keep spinning around up there. It’s not gonna come out I’m not going to. It just drives you crazy. Basically, if you have an open head center and an open AJ and you should be writing your thoughts down because they will drive you insane if you don’t get them out. You also won’t know what’s up there because we don’t know. We don’t know until we see it on the page. We don’t know until we say it. For some of us, I have a motor to the throat. I say things. I get a lot of clarity by talking.
But when it’s just me and I’m sitting there, it’s very helpful for me to see the thoughts on a piece of paper. So I wrote, let me journal through this. Let me work my way through this. And then I started to notice what was emotionally there and what the feelings were. So I did breath work and I did some tapping. I started to tap immediately my eft. So I’m starting to work through my feelings because the feelings will actually keep me in the loop. They will keep me in that. Trying to fix the feeling by taking action. A lot of times, or we shut down and we can’t move and we’re, like, paralyzed by it. We don’t want that because all of its resistance. We’re either dealing with resistance by reactivity or we’re dealing with resistance because we are shutting down.
This is what I teach my clients in business by design. This is why they move. This is why they change and transform over the course of the year with me, because I’m teaching them how to get them out of these resistance ruts so they do take action. So they’re taking correct action. This is why they end up doing so much more. And by so much more, I mean being actually productive versus just busy. And we’re working through things. So work becomes easier, life becomes easier. This is how you can start to make choices from a grounded place, because you aren’t full of all of these feelings that are making you so uncomfortable that you feel like you have to react and do something with them. You’re the instrument. You’re an entrepreneur. And if you’re a personal brand, especially, you are the instrument.
You have to tune the instrument. If my instrument, like, what I noticed by writing that stuff down was I had emotions and I had things that were in there that were not helpful. My instrument was tuned badly. I could play the right notes, but the song is not going to sound right no matter what I do until I tune that instrument again. So I tuned my instrument. I tapped and. And I tapped out A lot of stuff. P S. These are things that I have worked through over and over again. New level, new devil. Same shadow, different relationship to it. I could tap through it because I have been through this and I have excavated it. I can get through that shadow very quickly. I can get through it in 20 minutes and actually have a breakthrough.
That’s the benefit of actually doing this work. So I go through the whole thing and I tap, and then I did a breathwork. Now the breathwork is just working the rest of it out of my body. And in that breath work, I start to get insights and I start to get clarity on what’s actually here. And the things that started to come up for me were just like, this is how you move, Nicole. Nicole. This is your way, and you know it. You know what you have to do. You have to clear space for it. Because right now it might feel like that’s a step back. Like, how do I create space to do this thing that I need to do while still keeping everything in this business going?
When I am the person who does it made me say, like, I think I need to find some help. I probably need to add to my team if I want to grow to this level. I am having growing pains, and I’m not handling them correctly. I added more to my plate when I needed to clear my plate. All started to become clear. Exactly what I needed to do and how I needed to restructure things brought me right back to my track. I recalibrated in, like, a day after realizing this, so I was able to catch it. And I’m not going to say that there weren’t consequences. There were things that I did, you know, I invested in things. I lost some time, and that stuff is valuable. But I’m able to sit here and course correct very quickly without these tools.
I watch entrepreneurs spin for years. People stay stuck and tell me, like, they’ve got the same goals on their board for years on end. If you have a goal up there and you haven’t attacked it and it’s been up there for more than six months, you’ve got to look at that. You either don’t want it or. Or you are standing in the way and you need to figure out how to move it. You have to figure out what’s inside of you that’s keeping you from taking action. That’s what I do, and that’s what we’re going to go over in the Authority Accelerator masterclass. I’m taking you through this whole process of understanding yourself. I Look at human design as the most powerful, a way of mastering yourself.
Not through vague high level tools which and exercises which could be super cool and helpful, but actually through the lens of being able to truly understand yourself, to understand why something didn’t work for you and it worked for somebody else, why that advice is not the right advice for you and to save you from going down the path, or like me going too far down the path. I caught myself very quickly. Nothing suffered in my business. I just know that I don’t do that anymore, really. It’s very rare for me to end up anywhere down a path where I’m like, I don’t know how I got here. It was a moment. But I also look at it with gratitude because I’m like, I see this so much more clearly now. I know exactly what I have to do.
I’m so much more grounded in the way forward because I know that I would probably be still confused otherwise. If I didn’t have this tool. What I would be doing is I would be still taking action in that place. I wouldn’t feel good about it. It would start to affect my results and what I’m able to produce. And I would look for more strategies to try to fix those. And then I would be adding hours to my week, pulling me further away from what’s important, and I would lose myself in this whole thing and my results would go down and instead I’m able to see the path, recognize that I’m not on it. We all make a wrong turn. Sometimes we make a wrong turn. Do you notice when you are miles and miles away from where you were going?
Or do you notice like, as soon as you make it off the exit, you go, that wasn’t my exit. And you’re able to get right back on the highway, turn around and maybe you just lost a few minutes. That’s the benefit of this.
