Episode 442:


Hello and welcome to Unshakable with Human Design. Everybody. I am so excited to be here with you. I am Nicole Laino. I. I am your host. And if you’re joining us on YouTube, you’re seeing that we are in my brand new studio. So I’m super excited about that, making this a very fun video to create for you. Not that it’s always fun, but it’s especially fun today. And I am coming to you with this is a New Year’s episode. You might be saying, well, Nicole, New Year’s happened two weeks ago. 

Why are we talking about New Year’s now still? Like, haven’t we passed like the statute of limitations on how long we can actually talk about New Year’s? Well, it actually hasn’t changed yet. And I’ve talked about this, I’ve touched on this a little bit on the show before. But we’re going to go deep into it today because the calendar year, yes, the calendar has turned its page. It is officially 2026 according to our calendar because we are in January. But according to human design, it isn’t quite New Year yet. And then if you go with the Chinese astrology, it’s not new year until February 17th. Right. So I want to kind of start this off with just a question. How are you feeling right now? 

Are you feeling like New Year’s was two weeks ago, or are you kind of just starting to feel like maybe there’s a little bit of momentum that there’s like you’re starting to feel like things are coming together. Because I know it’s really common for people to feel like you’re not quite ready to accelerate yet in the beginning of the year. And there is a reason for that. The human design New Year doesn’t actually happen until a very specific thing happens. What we’re tracking here is on January 21st. Well, if you’re in the US it’s January 21st. If you’re in Europe or other parts of the world where you’re further ahead in your time zone, it’s actually January 22nd. But January 21st, at 8pm Eastern time, the sun transits into gate 41. And gate 41 is very special. 

Gate 41 is associated with the amino acid methionine, which is the start codon in DNA. It signals to DNA to start the process, the protein process. So this is sort of like the Collective’s birthday. It’s kind of like we can treat this particular day like a day to do a reading for the year. So it’s called the rave New Year 2026. This is the rave New Year will be on January 22nd. I’m doing this about a week early before it actually happens. So you have some time to kind of process this and you can come back to this episode, because we’re going to talk about themes for the year. Just like you can have an astrologer or a human design analyst or expert do a reading for your solar return, which is done every birthday. 

So each birthday we get kind of theme for the year of what’s happening in the planet. Very similarly. This is what we are doing for the world with this reading. So we’re going to go through themes that I noticed when I ran the chart for this year. And I have to say, it’s a doozy. This year is pretty crazy. I’ve never seen a chart like this. And I even went back and I was like, maybe it’s just before I started doing these, because I only started to understand the whole Rave New Year thing a couple of years ago. And I went back more than 10 years in records, just ran charts for each year and pulled them. And I’ve never seen a chart with this many themes in it. And we have years, of course, that have big themes, but this one is just. 

There’s so many repeating ones that they’re, like, beating us over the head. And I would be remiss if I didn’t bring it to you here in the show. So we’re going to dive into all of that. I’m going to break down the things that I think are the most beneficial to understand. I think they’re very interesting for right now, I think, especially with what’s happening in the world. It’s also really important for me to tell you that this is not like your personal forecast. This is the forecast for life. This is the forecast for the world. So what do we do with something like this? 

I think it’s something that we get to observe in the Collective and when we understand, just like the Transit episodes that I do every month with Christina Luna here on the show, which I know that everybody loves, some of our most popular episodes, everybody loves those because it’s the same thing. We’re Giving you kind of the lay of the land for the cosmic weather ahead. This is kind of like what this is. So you can certainly start to. I think as I was going through this, I got kind of emotional, actually looking at this year’s chart for the collective, this particular chart, I think that there are some really difficult, challenging, awful things happening in the world right now. I think a lot of people are feeling the weight of that. 

And this chart, I thought, spoke to those themes in a really interesting way. And I think, if anything, if we use some of these tools like astrology, like human design, where we get a little bit of a peek into what’s going on energetically, it can help us understand maybe where we can step up and be part of what we want the change to be. What do we want to be a part of? How do we see this kind of coming together? And how can we play a bigger role maybe in the collective scheme, if that is what you feel called to. So we’re going to go through the. I have some highlights from the chart that I really want to call out for you. All right, There are some big, strong themes this year. First of all, I always like to take a look at the type that the year is. This year is an emotional projector. Now, not every year is emotional. Last year was emotional. 2025 was an emotional year technically, but were a manifester last year. The world was a manifester. Yet last year there was a lot of themes of manifestor action, initiating change, trailblazing. That was what last year was about. 

This year is maybe a bit more measured, maybe more guiding the energy of what has already been created versus a lot of that massive change that we saw from last year. But we are once again emotional. We were emotional last year. We had the 3536 channel. That was our guiding kind of energy last year. This year it’s the 4037 channel. So that is the channel that connects the emotional center, the solar plexus, to the ego, that little tiny channel in there, the channel of community. Now, like I said, not every year is emotional. Some are, some aren’t. When I went back about 10 years, we had about a 50 split between an emotional year and a non emotional year. This is an emotional year. 

This is very different emotionally than the emotional center to the throat, which was a manifesting channel we had last year. This year this is much more about the channel of community. I’m actually going to spend some time talking about this because this is a really big deal. As far as I can see it. We are in the last year. For those of you who are familiar with human design, we are in the last year of the cross of planning. So the cross of planning is made up of four gates. It’s made up of the ninth gate, the 16th gate and the 4037 channel. Now that is a plan that we have been under since the year 1610. Long time. Right? It’s been a long time. 

So that is what has given us these institutions that we have, the governments that we have, the corporations that we have, the systems we have. And as you all maybe have heard, maybe you’ve listened to my Cross of Phoenix episode that I did here on the show, where you’ve looked it up in other areas, but no one really knows exactly what will happen, but things will change. We’re going to go from a very tribal theme of building together, taking care of each other, to this other theme of more individuality. Now, I’m not going to go into a whole cross of planning to cross of the Sleeping Phoenix thing here. 

We have episodes on that, and we’re actually going to do a workshop on that in February, So be on the lookout for that, where I’m going to go into that in detail with a group, whoever wants to join us for that. But the 4037 channel in this context, first of all, that’s our big theme for the year. Now, this is the channel of community. It is about bargains. It is the thing that says how we take care of each other is through some sort of systematic fashion. So it’s made up of the 40th gate, which is in the south node for us at the start of the year. The 40th gate for fourth line. We’ll talk about that in just a moment. So the 40th gate is the gate of aloneness. This is a gate of loving to work. Now, these are the nodes. 

So when we have our collective, nodes are going to be these two gates, the 40 and the 37, which make up this channel. They’re going to shape the way we see and they’re going to shape what we see, because that’s how the nodes work on the personality side. So the eyes of the collective, what they are going to be looking at, what they are going to be looking out into the world. And seeing or not seeing, is seeing maybe where these systems are working or where they’re not. It’s a very interesting thing to think about. Right. We are in the last year, so in 2027 we are going to officially switch almost a year from now. 

I believe it’s Valentine’s Day of 2027 is when we officially shift over into the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix and we close the book on the cross of planning in 400 years of evolution. Now, I think it’s interesting that the seeing theme for the collective for 2026, the last year, our last hurrah in this world with this theme. It’s our seeing theme. I thought that was very interesting. I was really, like, touched by it. I saw it and I. All I could think of, I mean, so many things flooded in with me. But so many questions of. I think we’re all going to be asked the question, or those of us who are paying attention of does this work anymore? And does it have to all come crashing down? We’re going to be asked certain questions. The 37th gate is the gate of loyalty. 

That’s what makes up community. Hard work and loyalty is what these two gates coming together in the channel of community means. So we’ve built all of this stuff and we have these governments and these systems and these companies and we have Social Security and we have all of this stuff. And then the 37th gate is the gate of loyalty and affection. This is the emotional side of the bargain. This is like the male and the masculine and feminine energies of a connection, of a bargain, of an agreement. There is a structure and strategic side of it, and then there is of every agreement, of every relationship, right? There’s I take care of you materially and then there’s I take care of you emotionally and the emotional one. 

So when it’s a way of seeing we’re looking out into the world and the 37th gate is looking out and saying, what’s going on? What’s going on? This isn’t working. Can’t somebody do something about this? The 4037 looks to institutions for solutions. It doesn’t say I will do it. It says, what can we build to take care of this for everybody? That’s how we got here. And for the last year, we’re going to be looking around the world and we’re going to be saying, can’t someone do something about all of this? Who can do something about all of this? So we’re going to be asking. The 37th gate is going to be asking us the whole time. And I think this is very interesting because it’s about people. Institutions take care of people. Systems take care of people. 

Laws are here to take care of people. Courts are here to take care of people. The government is here to take care of people. And the question is going to be, if it’s not taking care of the people, does it still work? And who does it belong to? Does it belong to the people who are running the government or does it belong to us? That’s what we’re going to be looking at this year. And we’re going to be asking ourselves. And when I saw this, I just, I’m getting emotional now talking about it because it’s going to say, do you care enough? 

Is what 37 is going to be asking you when you look out and you watch the news and you see what’s going on, it’s going to be saying, do you care enough to do something about it, to fix it, to help? 40 says, Will you work hard enough? Will you do the work? 37 says, do you care enough? And as we are closing the book on the cross of planning, yes, this background frequency, this frequency of caring, of taking care of each other, of building things to take care of each other, that cycle is ending. We’ve built it all. Christina and I talk on the transit episode a lot about how you can’t change the transits and the frequencies. And sometimes it gets really emotional, and sometimes things get really overwhelming. And sometimes things feel a certain way that are very uncomfortable. 

But if you use the moment that you’re given that the energy is moving you into, if you use it to see what you’re meant to see, to feel what you’re meant to feel, to work through what you are meant to work through, then you will come out on the other side of it better. I can’t help sitting here looking at this chart that I ran for the year and thinking about how we are one year away from changing the cycle. To think that we all aren’t being given this one last chance to say, what do we want to save here? That we all still matter, that as people, that’s kind of all that matters. 

Yes, we are going into this individual age which, if you talk to traditional human design people, they will say that, you know, like, no one will care about each other anymore. Because that background frequency was what was making us care. I don’t believe that. I think it was maybe holding some of that up in the harder times. But I think that we have an option. I think that we have an opportunity. I think that we as people always have choice to say, I choose to care, I choose to do the right thing, that maybe there’s a new system that can come out of this and we can dream that up now. And that system might look very different, less institutionalized. I have a whole thought about how we should be thinking about government with AI coming. But that’s a whole other episode. 

But the 37th gate, it shows up twice in the chart as well for this year. There’s more repeating gates in this year’s chart than I’ve ever seen before. So the 37th gate shows up twice, and the 41st gate shows up four times. I have never seen a gate show up four times. And I went back over 10 years and I couldn’t find a gate repeat that Many times we get doubles. We get a repeating gate here. Sure. But four times, That’s a lot. And we’ll get to it in just a second. I want to talk about the lines, and I want to talk about the two different ways that the 37th gate shows up and what the actual line theme is for the 37th gate and the 40th gate. So the 37th gate is in the fourth line. 

I’m going to read to you the definition of the 37th gate in the fourth line. It is leadership through exemplary behavior. Are we going to see whether our leaders have exemplary behavior right now? And do you care enough whether they do or not? I think that’s a really interesting question right now. I think that is a question we all need to be asking ourselves, especially if we live here in the United States. The 40th gate in the fourth line, the line theme for that is to organize for the purpose of liberation. It is the intuitive power of the ego to include only positive forces into an organization. Do you see that? Will you do something about it? If positive forces are not in the organization, we still have some power. 

But do you care enough and will you work hard enough to do something for it? Now the moon is also in the 37th gate, only it’s in a fifth line. And that line theme is natural devotion to the community. I think we are being called to look at what we mean to each other. What does community really mean? What does loyalty really mean? And who are we loyal to? The 3740. It teaches us nothing if not how to be in connection with each other. And to be fair, it’s. It is a bargain. That is what it’s always been about. I take care of you take care of me. As long as that stays in good standing, we’re each holding up our ends of the bargain, then we’re good. The minute we step out, it all falls apart. How do we treat people? 

Do we take care of people? That is what I think we are going to be seeing and having to ask ourselves and having to answer for. Now, let’s get into that 41st gate. So the 41st gate. I’m going to pull up my chart to look at it. So the 41st gate. The sun is in 41, Mercury is in 41. So the communication, what we are talking about, what we are speaking about, Venus, our values and our relationships, as well as Pluto, all in the 41st gate. Okay? The 41st gate is the gate of hope. It is a gate of. It’s called the Gate of Contraction. What this is really about is that the 41st gate is that moment before we take off and go after something. It is about limitations. It is about having hope and desire in order to overcome restrictions and limitations. 

It’s like this is the pressure cooker. The 41st gate is like all the pressure builds in the pot until we get so much pressure and that we have enough to take off with. That is what 41 is the fuel for something new. It’s the gun going off. It is the actual bullet. So the 41st gate, of course we have it in the first line because that is always what the sun is on the start of the year. So what we get there is reasonableness. Only this year it is in detriment. It is locked into. So we might see a little bit more of the not so nice side of the 41st gate, which is more about hot headedness. I’ll give you the line theme of this. 

The hot headed urge to release feelings while at the same time being entirely convinced of one’s own capabilities leading to overexertion. A hot headed urge to release feelings. The light is to be reasonable. The light is to be cool headed. So I think it’s interesting to think that we’re going into a moment where we might be battling with hot headedness. We might be battling with that uncomfortable pressure and not able to control our feelings and maybe doing things that feel half baked or unreasonable. Right. I think it’s also fair to say like without the hopes and dreams, there’s almost no desire to do anything. So the 41st gate in. It’s like when I have clients that have the 41st gate and they’re in the shadow of it. What we see is, we see just this inability to move. 

Sometimes it’s just the fantasizing and living in their head and not taking any action from it. Sitting idly by while things happen, while life passes you by. We’re going to be facing that, we’re going to be looking at that. Mercury is also in this gate. So you might find that we might be a voice of hope or we might be a voice of not so much of maybe too much caution or too much reactivity. Where we are maybe not so careful with our words, where we say things that we don’t mean. We’re not following through with what is really on our heart to do. Now Venus is in the 41st gate in the fourth line. This one I thought was interesting. Also kind of being held in detriment in the fourth line. 

The 41st gate can sometimes Swing into the shadow more, holding onto the feelings to prevent correction. Yeah, so this is where we don’t do enough to overcome our limitations. In a good expression for this one. We are able to adapt and we are able to overcome whatever. Because this is all about, like, when you want it bad enough, it’s almost like the obstacles disappear. You care enough, you want it so bad, you have such a desire for it that takes care of everything else. And then we come down to the 41st gate in the second line and that is the careless display of feelings for temporary advantage or the recognition of others. The careless display of feelings for temporary advantage. Performative. 

But the light of this, the good side, what we want to see more of, and this is in Pluto, this is where Pluto is. So this is kind of how we transform ourselves through cautious pragmatism and philanthropy. It’s about caring for others, putting yourself out there selflessly about doing what matters right, just because it matters. So there are so many themes that go on in this chart this year. It is jam packed with value. It always gives us a window into what’s going on in the world. But this year, these overarching themes of community, taking care of each other, not losing hope, not sitting on our laurels, waiting for somebody else to fix something, but really looking out in the world and seeing. 

I think that the blinders are going to be lifted off of our eyes about the way that we treat each other and about what really matters. And we’re going to be asked, do we care enough? And I hope we pass that test. I hope we end up caring enough and we do something about the things that are happening. Those are my opinions, but that is what we see in the chart. Those are themes. Regardless of what my opinion is that I think we are being challenged to say, what will we do? Uranus is in the eighth gate, which is about contribution. That is about doing what you feel is needed. There’s a bit of it for others, but there is. It’s almost like you show up and you say, like I’m. The eighth Gate is contribution. But it isn’t about giving. 

It is about giving a chance. It’s about giving a voice, lending your voice to something that matters and allowing that to be just what it is a reflection of how you feel and of who you are and of what you believe. It’s a reflection of your identity. So I think we are all going to be, you know, where we might see innovation, we might see change. Maybe there’s a new way that we’re going to be getting our message out there. Maybe there’s a new way that we’re going to be contributing. We might see changes in that. And the 36th gate has been hanging out in the gate of crisis for quite some time. It is still there. It is in the sixth line as of this chart reading. And the 36th gate in the sixth line. This is about justice. 

It is the knowledge that justice will triumph. This is in our Saturn. So this is where we are being asked to find some discipline, fight a challenge. That overcoming crisis is the knowledge that justice will triumph. I think that’s very interesting that is the particular line theme for this. It is the possibility to master crisis by maintaining a correct attitude. We are in crisis right now. I think that a lot of people feel that way. But our ability to master it, you know, what 36 teaches us is this is an emotional gate and the 36th gate, and. And that emotionality, it has to be waited out for clarity before taking action. It needs clarity. And in this particular space, it’s asking us to be disciplined and maybe to seek justice. The last one I’ll mention. 

I’ve mentioned this several times in the Transit episodes, but I’m going to mention it again because I need to. The 25th gate is where Neptune is still. This is the gate of innocence. This is the gate of love, of universal love. We are all one. This is also the gate that says this is like an existential gate. And it’s about seeing what is and not just what could be. Can we see what is and can we see what we are? Because this is an identity gate of how we identify spiritually and how we connect to the whole collective. And I think we are all being asked right now to maybe see how we are all connected and to see how when we hurt one person, our pain, my pain, hurts somebody else. 

What the 25th gate teaches us is that if we do our work on ourselves, if we work through our wounds, that we don’t just heal ourselves, we heal the collective. Because there is a collective wound. There is. There is a collective consciousness. And if we have unseen, unfelt things, it doesn’t just hurt us, it hurts other people who are connected to us. It hurts everything on Earth because that collective consciousness is wounded. And every time we heal a wound, we heal a little piece of that. We heal a little piece of the whole. So I think this is in Neptune. So this is an area where the veil needs to be lifted. This is where we might have something that feels like a blind spot. So where do you have a wound? Maybe that. 

Where do we have a collective wound that needs to heal? If you think about these societal wounds and issues that particular countries or aspects of the world have been fighting over and going through for eons, that if you think about them, is there hope to heal them? I think we’re being asked, when I think of that, and I’m gonna, I will project a little bit here, the 25th gate, when I think about it in that context, I think about the wars, I think about racism, I think about all of these things that nobody wants to talk about, these battles between. You know, we have the war in Gaza going on right now. We have ice on the streets here in the United States. We have all of these things going on. 

We had racism in the United States, which has been a contentious issue and a plague on this country forever. And I’m not speaking very articulately about it here because I’m coming off the cuff. But the 25th gate, when I see that, it’s like these are the collective wounds and Neptune is where we need to maybe shine a light into the dark. These are things we don’t like to talk about, we don’t like to confront them. And when we do it from a place of 36. We do it from a place of emotionality, not from clarity. And we lash out at each other because it’s just this constant back and forth of triggering that triggers my unfelt pain. So now I’m going to throw it back at you. This is what I see on social media now. 

I just see a bunch of people throwing their pain back and forth. And I’m not faulting anybody for it. It’s very difficult because you get swept up in it, because nobody knows what to do with all of this stuff. But I just see a bunch of unfelt pain and anger and a lot of hurt being ping ponged back and forth. And it’s awful. And I think of this gate all the time when I see that, because it’s just all of our collective wound showing up in us as individuals through our individual pain. My hope is that this 25th gate has been working its way through us for like the last year. My hope is that more people do the work like we do with deconditioning and doing the healing work. 

And that’s why if you are an energy worker, if you are somebody who helps people with their trauma, it’s not necessarily a modality or an industry that gets a lot of respect in the more wider circles. But I encourage you that if you do that work, I truly believe your work is needed now more than ever because there are a lot of people walking around in such pain and it isn’t just hurting them as individuals, it’s hurting all of us. And I feel like we are seeing that now. I’m going to leave this here and I’m just going to say I’m sorry. I know that this was not the most uplifting episode, but remember, this is the collective thing. You have your own story within this. You have your own chart, you have your own year, you have your own things. 

Life still goes on. No matter what happens, life still goes on. We are still living our lives and you will still be able to grow and prosper and succeed. The big thing is just that this might be a year of. There might be some rockiness, but there’s always potential if we use it. So I encourage everybody to do the best that you can with what we have right now. I think all of our voices are needed. I think all of our action is needed. And if you’re not somebody who shouts on social media, that does not mean that you are not part of this. There are other ways to get involved and do the things that are on your heart that feel right and aligned for you. So I’m going to leave this one here.
