Hello, and welcome to Unshakable with Human Design. I’m your host, Nicole Laino. And, ooh, we had such a fun episode today. Okay, so we’re gonna talk about the Fire Horse, the year of the Fire Horse. We are almost there. We’re gonna talk about human design, and we’re gonna talk about, you know, theme of sovereignty. So this is a juicy one. I almost didn’t do this episode, and I was like, I got the idea for it at the last minute, and I kind of stuck it into the schedule. So because there’s a lot of conversation right now about the Year of the Fire Horse, we’re hearing people talk about it. We’ve been hearing about it for months, and it hasn’t even been here yet. 


Now it’s February 17th is when we officially cross over from Year of the Wood Snake to Year of the Fire Horse. There’s always a lot of conversation about human design, especially on this show. It’s what we talk about a lot. And in both cases, I am noticing a really similar pattern. So people tend to talk about both of these things as if they are like, these chaotic, disruptive, extreme events, like something you have to brace yourself for. And I want to offer just, like, a different way of looking at them both, because I think they’re both misunderstood in that same way. So neither the year of the Fire Horse nor the shift of the epochs of 2027 with human design is here to create a little bit of the messiness. What they’re actually doing is that they are training us for sovereignty. 


There’s a greater theme here, and I’m not saying that chaos can’t come from that, because every bit of human design gives us a little bit of a lesson of life. Right. Gate 36, the gate of Crisis, teaches us that every experience at the beginning can come with crisis. There can come a little bit of a shakeup. Right. Gate three, the Gate of Ordering, says, like, at the start of anything, it’s a bit messy, and there can be chaos if we’re in the shadow. Right? Right. So I want to open you up to the idea that what if these two energies, these things that we’re going through this 2026 year, this last year, that we have before we cross over, that what they’re actually doing is training us for sovereignty. So sovereignty isn’t a mindset. It’s not independence for independence sake. 


I don’t hear this word as much anymore. There were a couple of years ago where we heard this a lot. But sovereignty is something that happens when external structures you used to lean on stop working and you’re forced to learn how to orient yourself from the inside. That’s the big shift, right? Sovereignty is like, I don’t answer to anyone else. And we think of that as like freedom, but it’s so much more. It isn’t just the freedom to do that. It’s the actual ability to not be looking for those things to be so self actualized, that’s not necessary. So, and this shift, learning how to go from, you know, it sounds good because we listen to that and you’re like, oh, I want that. Like, I want that. But it’s uncomfortable because it’s new. Not because it’s wrong, but because it comes with responsibility. 


Right? Sovereignty is not given. You don’t get to outsource sovereignty, so you are not going to get to outsource your decisions anymore. And that’s new for most of us. So what makes this moment like, especially interesting is that we’re also in that final year of the cross of planning and human design. And that’s an era that was built around collective structures and shared agreements and external systems of support. So what we’re experiencing right now is very intentional. And what it is really is a transition. This is a time between times. And in this episode, I’m going to talk to you about how the Year of the Fire horse and human design are actually pointing to the same thing. 


And we’re going to shift how we lead because of it, how we decide and how we stand on our own authority as the old structures start to fall away. So how can you become less dependent on them before they’re gone? Isn’t that the way to do it? You know, we don’t want to be dependent on something right up until the point that it’s over. You want to build independence from that thing. So if it goes away or it changes or it shifts, you are less reliant on it, which will make it less traumatic or difficult or challenging for you. Right?

It’s Valentine’s Day of 2027 that the official change happens, and a lot of people right now are feeling restless. You know, we also. We’re in a very chaotic world right now because politically and socially, there’s a lot of pain, there’s a lot of trauma, there’s a lot of intentional chaos. You know, Pluto in Aquarius, stuff of, like, I mean, wow, is there a lot of dirt and old stuff coming up being dug up from the grave and shown to us? The truth is being revealed, and there’s a lot coming out. And I think there are a lot of people that are. Some people are not surprised. Some people are surprised at what is happening and how it’s happening, and they can’t look away. 


And some people are trying desperately to cling to their beliefs and the people that they put trust in and the systems that they put trust in, and that’s tough. Other things that we’re seeing from people is there’s less tolerant of compromise. I think the teams are starting to get pushed to each side. People are less willing to be managed. They’re less willing to be marketed to. They’re a bit more savvy. They’re not interested in being told who to be. So they’re more reactive. And increasingly some of us are becoming more awake. And we’re seeing this change, we’re seeing these shifts, and I want to be really careful here because it’s. It seems like something is going wrong to a lot of people. And to me, I don’t like it. 


I want to be really clear, and I am not in the camp of, like, this needs to happen, so bring it all down. I have gone on record on this show being like, I don’t think it needs to end like this, but unfortunately I do. I’m starting to come around to the fact that people were never going to wake up if it didn’t get really Messy. Sometimes you stay in a bad relationship when you’re being emotionally abused and there’s a narcissist until he takes a knife out and holds it to your throat one night and you get so scared that you break up because it got so terrifying, because it got so bad. You know, I think we’re probably in the place of, like, where, you know, it’s gone beyond just a knife to the throat. 


It’s gone to, like, killing people, you know, but to me, it means that something is coming online. To me, it means that something is fundamentally saying, I won’t be ignored anymore. You’re not going to be able to look away from this. You’re not going to be able to escape. And some people will stick their head in the sand, but I really believe that they’re going to have a hard time through this transition. And if you’re listening to this and you’re going through this with us, then you’re ahead of the game. So sovereignty, it’s not an option. Sovereignty is actually being forced on us. We’re kind of being forced to learn a new way. Or you’re going to get left behind, or it’s going to really crazy. My opinion. It’s not that we’re choosing it’s being forced on us a little bit. 


We’re being forced to say, like, I’m either going to attach to something that’s no longer there or that’s no longer healthy or that’s no longer true and give my power away to that and give my soul away to that, or I’m going to have to come back to myself and really tap into what my decisions actually are. So sovereignty isn’t like trendy independence. It’s not just another way of saying freedom. It’s the loss of the external reference points. It’s a rebirth. It is uncomfortable by design. So this is why we are seeing institutions that are losing their credibility. You know, we’re not going to accept leadership being inherited. I think we’re seeing, like, you know, there’s a bit of a Nepo baby kind of revolt, so to speak. 


And people are going to start to be forced to decide for themselves and from themselves, from their truth. Sovereignty isn’t freedom first. It’s responsibility first. You’re going to have to take responsibility for yourself. You’re going to have to come home to yourself and make decisions from that place. And I’ve said before on the show, you know, I believe I understand what RA meant about, you know, when 2027 comes, you’re going to have to know. And he said it with such desperation. He said, you’re going to have to know how to make decisions for yourself because these other things aren’t going to be there the way that they were before. So build trust in you. Make sure that the decisions you’re making are not because you are so conditioned by other people. 


And I think that there are definitely feelings out there of people feeling like people are brainwashed right now, that there are people watching the same thing and having these knockdown drag out fights about what they witnessed. This is what we’re talking about. Are you outsourcing your authority, where those decisions are being made by somebody else? Are ideas being planted in you or are you coming from a neutral place? Right? Are you just triggered and you’re in such an emotional place that you’re not making a decision as yourself because you’re not meant to make a decision from that heightened emotional triggered place. Nobody is. It’s just a different way of looking at it through design. 


So all this to say that this is where we’re going and we can talk about the cross of planning and the end of the cross of planning and the cross of planning gets a little bit of a bad rap. But it actually, it was training us. We had 400 years of learning a lot of lessons. The cross of planning was, it was not bad, it was not wrong. It is not something to escape. It is not something, you know, that I think we should be proud of. The cross of planning. Cross of planning taught us a lot. And the people who have, who are born under the cross of planning, these are like the rocks of our community. A lot of times that is not going away, that will not change. It taught us how to cooperate with each other. 


It taught us how to collaborate, how to work as a team. And many teams and teams upon teams that create systems, right? It taught us those systems and how they work. It built the world that we’re living in today. But it is very hierarchical in nature. It just sort of loves that structure of just like, you know, me on top of you, on top of this one. And then we look up and we get the answer from the leader, right? I don’t see the cross of the sleeping phoenix operating that way because that those systems, this structure, this way of being, it can’t hold what’s coming. It can’t initiate that. That dependency is not going to protect us anymore. That ability of like that hierarchical structure is not going to serve us anymore. 


And so the cross of planning it didn’t fail, it didn’t fall, it didn’t break. It completed. It’s done. It’s a culmination right now. We should celebrate it. Unfortunately, there are going to be some things that probably burn down because the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix. The Phoenix burns and rises from the ashes. But I want to talk a little bit about the Fire Horse now. Let’s get into the Fire Horse here and how I see this as a sovereignty archetype, so to speak. Okay, so the Year of the Fire Horse is sort of marked by some. And the Fire Horse itself is sort of marked by some characteristics, Right? I talked about this. I did an episode on the Year of the Fire Horse. Go back and listen to that one where I went in depth. 


If you want to know more about that, I’m going touch on it here and kind of weave it into this big picture that I’m seeing. So the Fire Horse is tameable. You know, you think about like a wild horse running across the open plains, right? Unwilling to be contained, passionate, creative, free, intuitive. It’s not an overthinking thing. It’s an instinctual animal. And through that, through embodying that, you know, we’ll have different phases throughout this year. It’s like learning anything else. We’re just learning these things silently. If you were learning and you took a course in the Fire Horse, then you would be conscious of the fact that you were learning these lessons and you would have exercise and you’d have these things that you were doing, you know, to work through it and master the Fire Horse energy. 


That’s what all of this stuff is. The Cross of Planning was about us mastering themes of the Cross of Planning. And we did over 400 years. That was our assignment as humans. And the Fire Horse here is the assignment is to master sovereignty, to master intuitive movement, to master, you know, letting go of the need to overthink things or that impulse to overthink and to shift into thinking, to be more being than thinking. You know, it’s going to be about personal authority. That’s what it is. It is connecting us with. That’s the lesson we are here to learn inner authority. And I think it’s really beautiful because this is exactly the lesson that we need. Going into the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix, the Fire Horse refuses to live small. 


The Fire Horse is breaking the inherited roles or labels that we’ve put on ourselves. It is. It just is, right? And it moves fast, but it’s also like the energy is going to move quickly. But I want you to think about, like, how freeing that can be. You want to again, follow your strategy and authority through this, Follow your design, follow your intuition to know when it’s right to run. You run hard. But when it’s time to rest or when it’s time to pull back, or when it’s time to take a break, you do that too. Don’t get caught up in like, oh, I can’t stop now. Right, so this is the energy that we’re leaning into. This is what the fire horse is here to teach us. So I sort of see it as like this sort of sacred animal. 


Like I kind of. The visualization I get is that we’re all riding on the back of our fire horse to the burning Phoenix to rise from those ashes. Fire, Fire. Fire. Fire, Fire. Right. So like I was thinking about it, I was like, it’s like we’re going to Sovereignty University for the year. Human design and the fire horse combined are like the curriculum at Sovereign University. Human design is going to remove the decision making from your mind, is going to take the power away from your mind and it’s going to return the authority back to you and into your body, into your truth, into your way. It’s going to train you to trust divine timing. It’s going to train you to trust responses or invitations. 


And it’s going to train you to trust your inner signals versus looking for some sort of certainty through a system, through a. You’re going to have to move faster than that. It’s going to be wanting you to. It’s not. Some people are getting a little bit caught up in like, you know, when we talk about how fast the energy is going to move, it’s just initiating energy, it is quick energy. So that you’re going to have to learn to work with that in a way that feels aligned for you. You don’t have to move if you’re a projector or a reflector, you don’t have to move the way that someone like me, a manifesting generator, is going to move. That’s not your way. But it also doesn’t mean that you’re sitting down, you know, waiting for somebody to invite you. 


And you know it’s going to be about you putting yourself out there and showing people who you are and being proud of who you are. And when your intuition tells you to move on something, you don’t wait, you do it. You go, so human design is not the thing. Like, human design is going to train you to make those decisions as yourself. It’s Going to train you to trust yourself. It doesn’t tell you who to be. And that’s unfortunately, I think what a lot of people are looking for in it. And I understand that. I started there too. But really what it’s here to do is to train you to stop outsourcing your decision making and to find yourself and embody your true self. But you can embody your true self by trying to. By trying to follow a plan to get there. 


It’s an intuitive journey and if you do this long enough, you will start to tune yourself to what you’re feeling and what your intuition is telling you. And your gifts are going to start to come online. Right. So this final year of the Cross of Planning is kind of like a rehearsal. It is a way of us getting ready. It’s like the dress rehearsal for the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix. We probably have more Sleeping Phoenix themes in this year than we have cross of planning themes. We’re probably going to see things burn a bit. We’re going to see that quick moving self empowerment. Those themes are already saying we’re coming. Get used to it. Like go and put on that outfit and see how you look best. You know, start accessorizing with the 2027 outfit because that’s what’s coming. That’s the style. Right. 


But this is not a countdown, it’s not a crisis. Have fun with this. Leadership now is just changing. And if you can model self trust, if you can learn to choose without waiting for permission from anyone else and really important if you can stay regulated when others panic. You know, I also think consciousness is expanding. I think if you really dig into 2027, what they. What is said to happen is that a new type of being will be born a rave. We’re not going to get into that right here. I will get into it in the workshop because as I’m not into future casting this, but I think that it helps us understand themes that are going on here and maybe what’s happening more on a collective level, on like a world level. 


That the idea is that the solar plexus is going to become an awareness center. Oh, I should do a whole episode on this. I don’t want this to go off the rails because I got an idea. But to just touch on this. I believe consciousness is expanding. I believe that we are. I believe we’ve always been connected. I’ve always believed that. I’ve always felt that in my bones that we are all one. And I think as time goes on, we are starting to Feel that pain to another is pain to me, that we heal together or we all perish together. 


I believe where we are going more and more, and I think the cross of the Sleeping Phoenix and this new shift of the Rave, as it’s called in human design, the Rave is supposed to be more connected on that sensory, emotional, consciousness level. You know, think about, like, you know, just that intuitive sort of connection together. And the reason that I say that is if you’re dysregulated, you add that to the collective. We are all energy. We are all surrounded by energy. I think Tesla said, if you want to know the secrets to the world, start thinking in the terms of energy. We are all energy. 


And when we contribute suffering and fear and anger, and there’s a lot of these things right now because they are being stoked, because we are way easier to control when we are angry, because they just point somewhere and they tell you who to be angry at. And now, cool, you’re doing what I wanted you to do. We riled you up and then we pointed you in a direction, and now you’re going there. Excellent. Good dog. So much easier to control us when we are like that. When emotions are high, intelligence is low, I believe is the saying. But when you’re regulated, you are contributing so much to the collective, you are contributing so much to humanity. 


Not only are you setting an example that when someone is triggered and they encounter somebody who is regulated, then what you get and when someone is stable is there’s nowhere for that triggering to go. You hold space for that person to work through their stuff. Now you healed. Not just yourself, you healed somebody else. That’s the power of this. And that’s, I believe, where we’re going. It’s why we are being asked. It’s not to punish us. It is to say that this is what’s required, that this is the next step for humanity is to master yourselves. And in turn, you master each other. You master this, you grow and expand as a collective race, human race.
